I still have 9 days left on my subscription. Looked up 2023 trials and the match against norwood was up there and it was a shocker...camera was shaky and so far away and was unwatchable...think it was only available the day after the game.

I just checked my account. I have an auto renew unless I cancel by 01/04/2024. I don't think I will renew. It is good to watch all the junior matches and reserves. $69.

True. I'm not surprised we've got Connor, Redden, Cam Fleeton, Morris with afl experience.

Re: Season 2024 trial games
RESERVES:
Eagles: 5.5 8.5 12.12 15.12 102
Panthers: 2.0 3.2 4.3 4.4 28
The Eagles reserves were very impressive, run, run, run and very skilful.
Eleven goalkickers. Charlie West 2, Jet Hasting 2, Carter Norman 2, Riley Davey 2.
Current under 18s Charlie West and Jet Hasting were quite impressive.
Jack Firns starred at CHB. Isaac McGrath showed dash, persistence and a bit of adventure in his play.
South were just bloody awful.
LEAGUE:
Eagles: 2.5 8.7 12.8 14.10 94
Panthers: 1.0 2.3 4.4 9.4 58
Buck 3, T. Menzel 3, Rowe 2, Patrick Weckert 2, Luke McKay 1, Ballenden 1, Williams 1,
Lukas Cooke 1.
A lot more run this season, just get the ball forward. I thought when we our set defensive wall up to hold the ball in our forward area it was too high and South got over us a couple of times. Our hitting of targets up forward was poor. Our pressure and tackling was too much for Souths.
In the first three quarters South were poor. A slackening of our pressure in the last term let South in to kick five goals.
Zac Buck was sensational in the first half kicking three goals and putting a lot of defensive pressure on. Adam D'Aloia was excellent and best for the Eagles. His clearances and dash out of centre bounces were exciting and full of class. His one touch gathers were exceptional. He just needs to adjust his radar when kicking for goal on the run.
Redden was very solid in ruck. Will Neumann showed he could be a useful addition to the mid field rotation. Luke McKay although under done fitness wise showed hardness and skill, will improve with more game time. He is a beautiful kick and his 60 metre goal on the run fantastic. Patrick Weckert kicked a couple of nice goals and did a few useful things.
Overall it was a good even effort with every player contributing.
Troy Menzel did a hamstring and Max Litster got a strained knee when a player fell across it.
We will need some tougher matches to see how well we are progressing.

Great report wimpy. Buck is changing my view of any perceived limitations in his game.
Any comments regarding Knights’ and Rowey’s roles?

Thank you for the report. If it's the person that has met Isaac McGrath I'll have to tell the person how he went through such-and-suchwimpy wrote:RESERVES:

5 goals to the Panthers last 1/4. Was it just trying new options?

Re: Season 2024 trial games
The Eagles used seven interchange so I think the idea was to give players like Neumann, McKay and Beattie more mid field time. Rowey played mainly up forward, remember he had a lot of muscle wastage with his infection plus he missed a fair bit of training where he couldn't do any work at all. Knighter and Sinor were workman like and solid, no need to over work them.
Couldn't work out where Ryan Bruce was playing quite a few times he was doing his work around the half forward area. As much as I like Bruce's work and approach he MUST tidy up his kicking. I like Bruce in the team because of his hardness, I feel we have lacked a little hardness previously. The two major points of interest was the form of D'Aloia and Buck.
I agree with you "Headfan". I have always admired the way Zac Buck plays but I had difficulty fitting him in to my best 22, not anymore he is the type of player that is a must.
I always thought he had no penetration or pace. He was very one sided and not a multiple goal scorer. His tenacity and persistence creates opportunity. Never really thought of him as a thinking footballer but he rarely wastes the ball and is very team orientated. Sometimes good things come in small packages.
I think Knighter will miss the next two trial rounds. Will Pearce should be back, he has had a leg problem which I think he has now overcome, but last Friday at work a plank hit him in the head and had to have eight staples inserted to hold the gash together.
Josh Mawson is slowly overcoming a hip injury and shouldn't be far off. Sladojevic has a back problem.
