Jakob Wehr has today extended his GWS contract to the end of 2025 so that's the ends our hope of him returning.

 Interesting premiers hopefully Luke Powell or whoever is looking somewhere for players tall with experience

Anyone know of any players (discontented, looking for new pastures, etc) in the SANFL (or other leagues) or ex Eagles players looking to return from the AFL?

There's a magical thing called $$$ that will entice some.
I suspect Andrew McPherson will be available. Jimmy Tsitsas might be available as well.

I think the out of contract former Eagle players at this stage are:

Andrew McPherson, James Tsitas, Josh Morris, Mitch Hardie, Luke Dunstan, Jase Burgoyne, Rhyan Mansell and Caleb Poulter.

With Sheedy gone and a big turnover of players since the premiership - might be hard to lure the likes of Tsitas and Mansell back if they get delisted.

McPherson and Dunstan in particular would be very handy if available.

Thanks goddy11 and Aerie. You guys get me excited about our future. We are a force in the SANFL and have provided many players to the AFL! The return of some of these players is surely a natural.

We missed out with a lot of players who didnt return, and also sons of players who went elsewhere. Money talks.

Maybe it’s time to change that turn things around . I know we lost former players in the past that went to north and maybe south due to being near or going over the salary cap .
It hurts me seeing Eagle players come back and go to other clubs like Federick’s going to Sturt .
Players sons going elsewhere does go both ways Rowe to us not Norwood .
But there’s others from us gone to Glenelg ect

Reckon of that lot only McPherson, Tsitas, Morris and Hardie are gettable.

Dunstan - absolutely zero chance. Watch 'Show me the Money Season 1' on Stan and you will see his is firmly entrenched staying in Melb even if he gets delisted from Melb
Burgoyne - not sure he has the right attitude we want for players at our club.
Poulter - absolutely no chance unless he breaks up with his melbourne based gf who is one of those vapid influencers who would not look too kindly to move to little old Adelaide.

However none of these are key position players. I would overlook every single one of these players - even the gettable ones - to ensure priority #1 is getting two of the best available key position players. Yes, even Tsitas!

Thank the Football Gods that no Eagles youngsters have been invited to the AFL draft camp. I am tired of being bled dry of talent for the AFL.

I noticed James Tsitas named as a sub today against the Crows. I wish him the best but sad. It may lead to an extension on his contract.

My daughters at the crows game in their cheer squad Tsitas was doing goal kicking practice and practicing celebrating kicking a goal lol

Any status on Jack Hayes at St K .? Contract must be coming up.

JH was named for last game on a list of emergencies. He didn't make the cut

JH played for Sandringham on Sat. Kicked 1 goal

Re JH : "Contracted until end of 2024". Seems like contracts these days are written on toilet paper, easy to flush away if needed

I think Jack has only been back playing for the last 3-4 games. Been very unlucky with injury after hardly missing a game for us over many years. He showed enough in his first few games and good of St Kilda to give him a couple of years after he did his knee. Hopefully for him, a big injury free pre-season and 2024 is his year.

Good news re Ballenden, Brinker-Ritchie and Beattie. That's that letter of the alphabet covered.

Also good news re the intention to seek council assistance to upgrade the playing surface. Badly needed! Hopefully for next season!

Sounds like North are going bigtime for Tsitas
