Makes a change - we are likely to be hit hard in 2024 though
I think may 2 or 3 more. Kade Herbert probably 1.Borlaseanother.
I meant Burgoyne. Bad. I should read more carefully and take off my Crows hat before posting.

Geelong VFL finished 13/14, and Mitch H never got an AFL game. He might as well have stayed with us. Will he be delisted and come back? His match game form in VFL seemed to be quite good.

With a number of retirements this year Geelong could possibly re-sign Hardie as additional backup next year.
Still a disgrace how the AFL allows a leading player in the SANFL to be taken mid year, decimate the club they are signed with, and not play an AFL game. What about companies that sponsor that player for the year, they also get screwed over. Just makes it harder and harder for clubs to raise much needed revenue.

Luke Dunstan’s name came up earlier on in this thread, just read that he injured his ACL in the VFL yesterday.

Just saw that come through as well. May have been a likelychance to be delisted and possibly return home. That would almost certainly be AFL career ending. Bugger for all concerned.Columbo wrote:Luke Dunstan’s name came up earlier on in this thread, just read that he injured his ACL in the VFL yesterday.

Hello "Columbo", you might be able to answer question 2 in the 10 question quiz in the Advertiser today.

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
I had a dream that Jack Hayes, Cooper Sharman, Jacob Weare, Rhyan Mansell, Kysaiah Pickett, Tyson Stengle, Lachie McNeil, Caleb Poulter, James Tsitas, Mitch Hardie, Brodie Smith, Jack Lukosius, Josh Morris, Jackson Mead, Mattaes Phillipou, Henry Smith, Harry Schoenberg, Lachie Jones, Trent Burgoyne, Taj Schofield, Nathan Barkla and Luke Dunstan were all delisted and wanted to return to the Eagles in 2024.
Cam Sutcliffe, Kobe Mutch, Martin Frederick and Nathan Studham didn’t feature.
In the dream Nick Hayes, Jordan Foote, Ben Jungfer and Sam Lowson all said they’d be returning to the Eagles next year. Also the Eagles-bred Camporeale twins (Lucas and Ben) said they’d be available next year. I might have missed some. E&OE.
Sadly, like Martin Luther King’s dream, it won’t come true in 2024.

Why was Macpherson so unlucky that he didn't make your dream ? He tends to be the forgotten Eagle.
Burgoyne and Schofield aren't on any list at the moment - for different reasons they didn't want to play SANFL.
Surely Morris, Macpherson, Mead, Tsitas, Dunstan and Barkla will all be delisted at season's end? Mansell will be 50-50. McNeil and Smith would also likely to be delisted but I understand are contracted for next season.
Besides Tsitas, none of them really fill the team's major needs i.e. key position players.

Anyone watching the Crows/ Sturt game. McKenzie or Clamp would be great pickups.

Yes. A couple of others looked ok.
Nick Moore looked ok for PA. Weideman looked very good this year. Must be out injured?

SANFL page says Weed played 7 for Port this year, hadn't played since Round 10, played for Henley last week but that was his only game there for the year.

Will Welsh play in the SANFL for the Crows or the Eagles next year?

I think he may be allowed to play three games for the crows next season as a F/S. I think Burgoyne (F/S) and Nathan Barkla (NGA) did in their last U18 season.
I would be hoping at least one of Cooke, Weckert or Welsh could find a permanent position in the league team next season.
I think Welsh has to be managed carefully. At the start of last season as a 16 year old he did all the senior training and eventually broke down with a back injury before his training routine was revised.
On Saturday I thought Cooke and Weckert combined well to make themselves excellent targets around the ground. Both took crucial big grabs. Welsh in the U18s showed good strength and competiveness.

I heard we are talking to a 195cm full forward who played in the vfl this year. Keep hearing that all players have re-signed except goldy and toumpas and that Troy Menzel is definitely staying

That would be exactly what we need.
Glad to hear that Menzel is staying. More than capable of kicking 30-40 goals for us next season if he stays injury-free.

Menzel could be a roving forward pocket

Goldy deserves another year. Not sure about Toumpas. A lot of injuries and errors this year. Racks up possesions but not a game buster. Wouldnt pay a lot of money to stay on.

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
The forward could be Kaelan Bradtke who we went after last year but Richmond signed him preseason but have now delisted him. He didn't have a great VFL season. Played 16 VFL games and kicked 24 goals.
