WHAT DOES 2021 HOLD FOR THE EAGLES? - Page 8 Empty Re: WHAT DOES 2021 HOLD FOR THE EAGLES?

Eagles time trialed at the University running track. Did the running in three groups.
Jack Firns easily won the first group run and Kai Pudney won the second group run.

Clay Cameron made his first appearance at training. Looks about the same height as Jack Hayes.
Mitch Hardie is isolating in Canberra. Stephen Mills is in Adelaide but he has come from Brisbane and now has to isolate until the result of his covid test is known.
A new recruit was at training....Rory Lehmann, a KP defender played for Coburg but I think has been playing District football for the last couple of years.
Jarrad Redden still recovering from surgery. Couldn't pick any players not there who should be.

No Dane McFarlane out there? Must have been a mischievous rumour.
James Tsitas playing NTFL for Southern Districts against Wanderers at 6pm tonight Round 10. Has been kicking a 2-3 bags of 3 goals. Will be fit for our season.

Is Cooper Sharman out there? He might also be caught up with border restrictions depending on whether he was in NSW (hometown Leeton NSW)

Forgot to mention Sharman, he's stuck in NSW. The Menzel boys have been very regular at training, although Dan only rides the bike. Did not see them this morning. Sinor and Comma were also not there this morning but did their trials yesterday.

Sinor's other half as due next month sometime so that might be a reason as she might've had a appointment which he might've had to attend or unless the baby is coming early or something

Bit of a worry if Dan Menzel is already restricted to using the bike (re his terrible history with multiple knee reconstructions). Is it his knee or his 2020 foot injury. Hope that the Eagles did comprehensive medical screening before signing him to avoid "blowing their dough". If he can get a decent pre-season in, Dan Menzel might be fantastic for us - equally, a chance that his signing has a sad expensive ending. Fingers crossed!

Just went to a NTAFL site, James Tsitas  has 10 goals from 10 games. He side is fairly lowly placed though.

Good point on Dan Menzel. He will be a star for us if fit.

I think Dan Menzel is on a one year contract, hope it's play for pay.

Definitely foot rehab.

Still doesn't cover the cost of transfer fees if Dan Menzel is restricted to 2- 3 games for season. But enough of my pessimism! Might be training flat out in 3 weeks!!!!!!! (hope)

Re Dane McFarlane rumour. Can see how the rumour developed. On one site, it headlines "McFarlane lands at Eagles". When you read the article, it refers to the local Darwin Eagles side, not WWTFC Eagles. Disappointing - looked an almost identical replacement for Mansell.
Amazing how many interstate recruits to all clubs are coming down into the SANFL. Eagles announced theirs early but several Clubs have numbers creeping up on Eagles eg West, Norwood. Luke Powell after announcing the 10 recruits said to "stay tuned for more to come" - awaiting on edge of my seat! This Rory Lehman 194cm defender mentioned as being at the Eagles Uni Loop time trial is probably one of them. After no depth in the "talls" department, we've certainly stocked up on that, recruiting defenders Mills 197cm and Lehman 194cm (still with Thompson 194cm, Seymour 193cm) then up forward with Cameron (193cm) Sharman (193) (still with von Bertouch 193cm and Jack Hayes 193cm)

After watching the Eagles train Saturday morning I got the impression Mills will play ruck and up forward more than as a defender. Played as a back up ruckman in Perth. A lot could depend on Redden's recovery. Could be wrong!!!!

A couple of good YouTube's on James Tsitas in NTFL - one, doing an interview in where his love of the Southern Districts football club shines through, a truly team player to have on your team. Two, taking a spectacular overhead mark in the Play Of The Day segment - SANFL did not see this overhead prowess last season.

Ill help MickeyJ out here. McFarlane rumour was correct. Have we announced the Alice springs lad yet?

he Club is delighted to announce the signings of Cooper Gaffney, Seb Kerrish, Dane McFarlane and Rory Lehmann.
Cooper debuted and played nine games for the Eagles in 2019 mainly through half back but has the ability to play in the midfield. Cooper returns to the Club after spending 2020 playing alongside his brothers at his local club Port District.
21-year-old Seb Kerrish joins us from the Glenelg Football Club. Seb debuted in Glenelg’s 2019 Premiership season but wasn’t able to break into the side in 2020. Standing at 186cm Seb has a classy left foot kick and has the ability to play through half back and the wing.
Rory Lehmann a key defender has relocated to Adelaide from Melbourne for work. Rory has played alongside ex-Eagle Andrew Ainger at Vermont in the Eastern Football League for the previous three seasons. Prior to that Rory spent two seasons at Coburg in the VFL.
Dane McFarlane joins us from Werribee in the VFL. Dane is a fast running mid/half back who is currently playing up Darwin in the NTFL but will relocate at the conclusion of the summer season to join his good friend James Tsitas in South Australia.
On their signings Luke Powell said, “It is great to have Cooper and his family back at the Club. Cooper is still a very young man and hopefully has a lot of good League football ahead of him here at the Eagles. Seb has some good mates here at the Club already and we hope he can enjoy his football and take the next step as a player. Rory comes highly recommended from Andrew Ainger both as a person and a player and we look forward to having Rory here at the Club. Dane has shown he is a more than a capable player at Weribbee in the VFL and we feel Dane will help fill a void left by the recent departures of Lachy McNeil and Jacob Wehr to the AFL system.”
