Re: Club champion 2021
Any confirmed retirements from the B & F?
Well done to Tsitas on winning the Club Champion. No surprises he and Jack Hayes were 1 & 2. Outstanding years for both of them.

A couple of Eagles champions. Anyone know how many Reserves games both played and when they played their league debut?
I thought Giuffreda may have been on his last legs last season, but he finished strongly, including a fantastic first quarter in the Grand Final when North were going well early. He kept us in it. His season this year was fantastic - playing that last man in defence. How the game has changed since he started.
He could play equally well on talls or smalls. He was so reliable in any situation, even with an awkward kicking action we hadn’t witnessed in the SANFL since Paul Notheast. He must’ve worked hard on his kicking because it certainly improved over his career - although never the strongest part of his game. His desire, speed and reading of the play was top notch. A rock of a wonderful defence for over a decade. Three premierships and a club legend.
Poole has been one of my favourite players to watch in the current era of the Eagles. Like Giuffreda, he always put in 100% on the field. I’m sad to see him go as I think he’s very much at the top of his game. He was 2nd best on field in the 2020 Grand Final and his forward role, along with Firns, in this years finals series was played brilliantly. He’s short in height but there is plenty of power about him. A terrific leap and mark and first on the groundball too. A Reserves Magarey Medallist so had to do it the hard way. A much admired competitor. A dual premiership player and a club legend.

Re: Club champion 2021
It was mentioned on Friday night but I didn't note it. Both played quite a lot.
Pooley won a reserves Magarey Medal and it was stated that he missed another one for being reported.
Patty as well as playing numerous reserves games missed a season and a half through a bad groin injury.
Patty gave a brilliant farewell speech and would have to be one of our most humble and best ever clubmen.
Angus said very little but his hand/arm gestures and responses to the crowd were absolutely sensational and very much appreciated by everyone.
The coach said sometime ago he caught one of his boys picking up the other one and slamming him down, when questioned by the coach the initiator said he was practicing a "Pooley slam".
These two will be sorely missed.

Talked to Max and Chris Litster (1 league game for West Torrens) and they said there had been no interest from any AFL clubs. Max was most probably best for SA the previous Sunday playing against WA. If not drafted should be a 150-200 game player for the Eagles.

Each of these have contributed much to the WWTFC . Best wishes.

The AFL clubs would be playing their cards close to their chest - Litser's potential is too good to ignore. And then, if he isn't taken and shows form for us, will be taken in the midseason draft anyway. It hurts! With Beecken likely taken as well, a HB flank might open up for Lachie Hoile.
Min requirements 1.a key tall fast defender (in case Lehman doesn't make it or Thompson is hurt -may be his last season as well. Guifreda very hard to replace being able to handle shorts and talls whereas Rowland is excellent but only on mids forwards. Also the new key defender releases Cameron to play forward.
2. Another key midfielder - to make Lonergan work harder.
3. A "zippy" forward crumber goalsneak

Re: Club champion 2021
Thanks for the info. I didn’t realise Giuffreda first played league that long ago, in 2007. Incredible. Von Bertouch also a great contribution to the club - regardless of his movements next season. Hopefully he adds to his games tally with the Eagles.

He would be a great player for the Eagles. He has all the attributes to be a very good AFL half back. I can remember as a kid watching Chris play for Minlaton/CMS in the early 90’s.

Re: Club champion 2021
Max Litster was not even invited to the State Combine, to get an invite 3-5 AFL clubs must request you get an invite, I don't think 3-5 clubs would be playing their cards close to their chests. Border line cases need to show what they can do.hawke wrote:wimpy wrote:Talked to Max and Chris Litster (1 league game for West Torrens) and they said there had been no interest from any AFL clubs. "Reddeer" why were you asked to supply stats for Vonny when no announcement was made about his retirement, is he going on??

Re: Club champion 2021
I dont know the reason behind von Bertouch not being farewelled as well. I just did what Christine Williams asked me to do. Perhaps the club got wind that Vonnie had been courted by Norwood (Something I was told by an ""In the know" Norwood supporter months ago) We will have to wait and see what happens

I just got the club email. Poor oversight imo . VB has been a great servant at he club. I suppose he was honoured by Troy Menzel wearing his top in the GF.Reddeer wrote:I dont know the reason behind von Bertouch not being farewelled as well.
