I doubt that we are talking to any one at the moment with the Football Manager Luke Powell in New York running a marathon with Flash and still waiting for what happens in the draft.
Their time is probably being taken up with trying to organise a women's comp as requested by the SANFL by 11th November

Is the woman's comp self funding or will it be a burden on the footy club? If the SANF is funding it, does this mean something else is not being funded?

McKernan delisted by Essendon... although they are likely to redraft him as a rookie.
For memory I think he committed to the Eagles at the end of 2014 before being drafted by the the Bombers. Would be very handy at this level if it could happen.

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
both of them are done and dusted...the club has moved on.
McKernan only ever had a brief chat to Godden, he is not the player we need.

Mmm, not sure about that. I thought he got a few cracks at it... was ok in his first year, but became inconsistent and not very good under pressure.
Good reserves player.

I agree he was good year 1 and spat the dummy and left bit like another player that left during the year went to north
While i do not like losing players if they have reached the best and gone backwards and can not get out of the seconds into the league perhaps its time to move on .
But thats a thought

Apples, nice lad but was never going to get back into our team, even with the number of departures this year. Can play and ok at clearances but just keeps turning the ball over usually whilst not under pressure. Rated his own game on numbers, not effectiveness.

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
Won a 2's Magarey, played in a few flags at the lower levels, good clubman, but just couldn't lock in his spot.
Would have preferred to see him succeed in our colours but think he owes it to himself to give it another crack elsewhere.
Good luck Rat!

yep i think ive spoken to his mum at the games .
But he left us part way through 2016 he would have or could have made the league team but left
I'm assuming we get a transfer fee from north take it we got one for Schwarz as well to them.
So anyone have any clues on us talking to players or are we waiting for Powell to return from that long run for little heros
All i hear are names that come up some say we want or have talked to and the next person says no we spoke but we dont want .
We gotta talk to players and sign some soon

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
I think that they are going to give the upcoming juniors (those who are not drafted) a chance to show they wares, otherwise those players will just go elsewhere like Schwarz and Appleton, and a lot of others in the past who moved on and seemed to do OK

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
There'd be a waiting game on the draft I'd think...
No one has done much to this point, other than Norwood getting back players that were never good enough for AFL in the first place, and a few fringe players swapping clubs.

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
I have mentioned it another thread a while back but to help us with improving our funding stream we should be seeking to get 1 of the AFL Nab cup games to Woodville oval. I know cricket has it booked but if work out correctly it would benefit footy and cricket plus oval sponsors, council and local trade. Win/win for everyone.

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
Yeah, seems as though Woodville, Prospect and Glenelg are ruled out as options for this Goddy, because of cricket.
It is a shame, but don't see a way around it. The Eagles themselves can't get on the ground until the end of March!
I know it's not the same, but if we can get the same financial benefits and club exposure, may need to push for another outing at Thebby.
