Anyone. Is the Rowe in the U16 any relation to Stephen?

Don't think Will Pearce will (pun intended) be playing for awhile, has to have an op. on a finger he broke against South.

Re: THE 2024 SEASON
Very disappointing to see Brinker-Ritchie, Jack Boyd, Menzel, Beattie, Pearce, Lukac and Dawkins all out injured and not available for selection.
But good to see Hudson, Mair, Davey, Fairall, Griffyn Hansen, Toole, Andrews and Charles named in the reserves after finishing their U18 year. And, also there are both Kade Herbert and Charlie West named in the league team who are still eligible for our U18s. Great to see the youngsters come through.

We have been hit hard with injuries the last couple of years. Let hope our boys do a good job and win regardless..

You can add Swannie McFarlane to the injury list.

A day before the start of the season it would be nice if the club done a bit of house gardening and updated its website.

Reserves
Why are the reserves playing at 5pm. I don't want to be there till midnight watching the boys play. Swap the woman's team around. This spoils my day as I like to watch the reserves first to see who will be the next one to progress to the league. I don't want to watch a second rate woman's team first. Why can't they play at Eastern Parade Oval. Isn't that why it was upgraded

In fairness it is good PR to Showcase the Womens games as an Easter highlight. The reserves could have played Saturday but I'm sure it was a commercial and logistics decision.

Re: THE 2024 SEASON
Met Blake Renet today. Got a hug from McKay when he saw me. Got a hug from Isaac McGrath today when he saw me. Even tonight when i was in the club rooms by myself at a table McGrath told me to sit with him and his parents table which is lovely so we had Neimann and the indigenous player from NT joined our table so i introduced his parents to them too as they hadn't met any of the players. Which was lovely of him.

Though McGrath was at centrals he loves eagles. All players there apart from Tillbrook who was on a boat at Edithburgh.

Re: THE 2024 SEASON
Just saying when a supporter/member asked me where Zac Phillips was i asked a reserves coach that returned to eagles after having a year off he asked another coach and he said Victoria. Like i said to the coach i didn't like to ask incase he walked out etc and the assistant coach said ask me anything.

Re: THE 2024 SEASON
I don't think that D'Aloia is 19 in the list. He played in the last under 18s premiership and got BOG so it means that he's 20 or so. Herbert is 18 on Wednesday coming.

D'Aloia still only 19, will turn 20 on 9th April. Was born 9/04/2004.
We should get a good career out of him.

Anyone heard anything re selections for the SANFL vs Vfl game on Saturday or whenever it is?? I've been told that it was on Saturday just gone for SANFL selections on Good Friday . No I'm not attending Gather Round. But just interested to see how many players that we've got in it that's all.

A squad of fifty had been picked. I believe Saturday or Sunday it was reduced to 25 and will be released sometime Monday afternoon.

At a good age and expect good things, just hope he doesn't get poached by a higher team.
Besides him, we have a solid core here but again will only work if they are here for an extended period of time.

I read that the SANFL are announcing the squad by the end of today.
With only one round played you would expect that the bulk of the squad would based on last year’s form rather than this year.
One thing that the SANFL have consistently done over the past recent seasons is to include a couple of young, promising players who have the potential to get drafted and to put them in the spotlight. I would therefore expect and hope that D’Aloia makes the team and be given every opportunity to put his name under the spotlight of AFL recruiters.
No, I don’t want to lose him but I’m a realist. The young guys today bust their guts to make an AFL squad and many of them would not hang around on SANFL lists if their dream was over. By all accounts D’Aloia’s attitude since being overlooked in his draft year has been first class and he’s doing everything possible for that opportunity. Let’s not begrudge him that. Obviously his knocks are that his kicking lacks damage and penetration and he may not be the fastest player but sometimes this can be compensated by his attitude and his ball winning ability is exceptional.
Beecken is another one who really should be in the State team but if he didn’t make it last year then his game against West isn’t going to elevate him.
Knights should be in the team.
Rowe would only be in the team based on last year’s form. His hospitalization in pre-season has meant that he isn’t as match fit as he should be.
Controversial opinion but Sinor, while a leader at the Eagles and a great player for us, doesn’t warrant being in the State team. He isn't amongst the top 10 midfielders in the SANFL not amongst the top 6 mid-defenders.

Re: THE 2024 SEASON
With Rowe's preseason fitness program being drastically reduced because of his infected knee episode, Eagles are playing him up forward much more than his previous onball time. However, his form appears strangely off, even early in the game. (admittedly, only one game and trials to go by). He's not beating his opponents with purely "his footy smarts"
any more, nor has he the high conversion rate in front of goal- use to be freakish. Can Jimmy get back his "mojo" as the season and his fitness improves? Will long recall his brilliant effort in the 2020 Prelim final against South when he kicked 4-5 goals, turning his opponent inside/out especially in the 3rd Q. Come on Jim, we need you !!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: THE 2024 SEASON
From a personal point of view, I selfishly hope that we dont get any in the State team. We need to keep our players healthy and fit and away from any injuries.
