Please be very critical.....I can take it.
Tried to get a bit more talent on the ball.
Didn't include A McPherson as he will get drafted (also possibly Weidemann).
Nice team have we finished recruiting yet ?
Forward line could be helped by Redden or West

Re: Recruiting for 2018
Do you think we need to find another key forward, with Lukosious to miss a chunk of the season in with SA U18s?
Or is Nick Hayes a good option as a permanent full forward?

Good question I think Lukosious was good but we may need more depth up forward .
Saying that Redden West and Bomber might end Hayes going into the ruck .

Re: Recruiting for 2018
No doubt Nick hayes will play F/F when Lukosius is absent. Did a great job there last season when Wundke was injured. If West doesn't get rookie listed I think his marking and general improvement could lead to him playing a bit of F/F plus rucking instead of Jack Hayes playing second ruck. With both Redden and West in the team we seem a little top heavy. Godden only likes to play one genuine ruck. I've always wanted Paul Stewart to play up forward, he did on several occassions for the power, with Von Bertouch back this might happen. .
Angus Poole will need to pull his finger out, his performances have levelled out and now has more contenders for his position.
I think Lewey and Bomber might be struggling to get a game.
Depth has definitely been improved.

Re: Recruiting for 2018
Agree with Poole needing to pull his finger out. Great ball getter but is an angry ant and wants to fight all the time. We do need an enforcer type player and Gus seems to want that tag. We had the likes of Parry and Grocke in the past.
Hopefully some of the U18 come on, young Rowe, Weed if available, etc.
Wimpy you know more about Rudloff than me to have him in you side. On paper your side looks good.
Lauchie M will be a loss but in my opinion he fell away last season. Wundke can be replaced.

I agree goddy Lauchie M looked down a great deal injuries maybe
Wundke and Lauchie were kept on for 2017 if I’m right maybe both played one year too many
Young Jake J for me was pushed into spots he had issues with hopefully the new guys and old guys returning may help him

I know we’ll probably never see the best of him again, but where is Rowntree at? Is he going around again?

Re: Recruiting for 2018
Sharrad, T. Gray and Rudloff all played against the Eagles in the second semi-final.
To play in that team with a myriad of AFL players in it, indicates to me that all would comfortably fit into our league team.
Rudloff.......18 games..........1 goal
T. Gray.......30 games..........19 goals
Sharrad......54 games..........19 goals
Will not miss Lachy Mc. as his heart did not appear to be in it.
I have seen a complation of Rudloff in action and looked to be a hard aggressive defender. But highlight reels always make you look good or they wouldn't be done.
Have him in the team to get Goldy and Joey into midfield positions. When resting up forward Goldy was always a goal kicker.
Heard Rowntree was keen to go on, but will most probably have to wait to see how his pre-season goes.

I think a bonus for the Eagles Stewart and Redden they’ve come home to a family club which would appeal to Port players leaving along with the chance of more league games .
But that’s just me thinking

Re: Recruiting for 2018
Micky you just have to wait a month for all the AFL draft recruiting to be over.

We have recruited Redden,Von Bertouch,Gray,Sharrad and Rudloff, I therefore think our recruiting is over. I don't believe there would be room in the salary cap to sign any other quality players

Joe Sinor trained with Power today, and will train with Crows this week too.
Interesting.

I hate this rookie concept. The magpies can take him for nothing like they hit a few other SANFL clubs last year. But on that all the best to Joe. He really improved out of sight last season. Plays like Jarrod Lyons did at AFC. He would make it.

Re: Recruiting for 2018
I'm guessing when they set up the breakthrough award no-one would have really expected a 23 year old who has been around the traps for a while to win it and as a result spend a week with an AFL club as part of the prize.
From the sounds of the interview Joey seems all set to start pre-season with our boys next week, but I guess you never know.

Why would Jarad "Nutsy" Allmond want to transfer to North Adelaide?
