The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is delighted to announce that Patrick Giuffreda and Luke Thompson will again lead our Football Club as Co-Captains in Season 2018. Luke and Patrick have done a fantastic job since taking the reins in 2015 and will continue to lead our club with distinction. As Michael Godden noted, “Patrick and Luke are both exceptional characters and leaders. Patrick and Luke over the last 3 years as Captains have really embraced the role and continually drive the group and their own games to a fantastic level. Both men understand the expectation on the group and themselves as leaders and willingly take on the challenge.” Luke and Patrick are both thrilled with the appointment and look forward to leading the team this Season.

In some unfortunate news, our 2017 Club Champion Joseph Sinor has sustained a significant injury in our trial against Port Adelaide last Friday night at Noarlunga. Joseph has a lower leg fracture and some ligament damage in his ankle. It is expected Joe will miss between 8-12 weeks dependent on his recovery. We wish Joe all the best with his rehabilitation and will wait with excitement to have him back on the playing field in the near future.

Also the club would like to notify that Jared Petrenko will miss the early rounds of the Season due to contracted Television/Media commitments. The club has been fully aware of Jared’s situation from the end of the last Season and have been fully supportive of the career opportunity Jared has been given to date. Jared has been a regular throughout pre-season and continues to be conditioned while away from the club. We wish him the best in his endeavours and look forward to having Jared on the playing field soon.

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is proud to announce Distinctive Funerals has joined the Club as a new Corporate Partner for season 2018.

Established in 2000 by Nick Mastro, Vic Dichiera and their families, Distinctive Funerals see themselves unlike many funeral firms in South Australia, where all their decisions are made here, by locals caring for locals. Located at 414 Port Road West Hindmarsh, Distinctive Funerals are leaders in their profession, with a dedication to service, and deep professional integrity.

Distinctive Funerals realise that every individual is special and feel that every service should be unique with their goal being to help families create a fitting, memorable and affordable service for their loved one through providing the choice of a wide variety of services and products, as well as a wealth of creative ideas and suggestions.

On the new partnership Nick Mastro said "As locals and proud South Aussies, Vic and I are ecstatic to be partnering with the Eagles. The opportunity to give something back to our community and be involved at a local level is core to who we are. Go Eagles!"

“As a Club we are proud to have another local family business in Distinctive Funerals come on board as a commercial partner” said Woodville West Torrens General Manager of Commercial Operations Chris Branson. “Whilst funerals aren’t something people like to pre consider, we feel it is important to inform our members and people of the local community that there is a high quality funeral service provider in our local area. Nick and his team have years of experience in the industry and have an excellent facility to go along with their high quality service.”

I recall a scene in an old film"The Colditz Story"
The Germans are asking for volunteers and Up stands a (i think) Frenchman.
He says "i would rather work for 100 Germans than 1 Frenchman". Everyone is surprised/
The German officer all smiling says "that's fantastic, What does he do".
He replies "I'm an Undertaker"

Hi Michael,

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is pleased to announce we have been granted a license to enter a team into the SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League in 2019.

The Club felt it was well positioned to have a team in the SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League in 2019 with strong planning and the acquisition of our new Eastern Parade facility in Ottoway and is excited that we have been able to secure a license upon our first application.
The Club has recently formed a Women’s Football Committee headed by Board member Christine Williams and will commence putting together a strong team of coaches and staff around the women’s team to allow players to be immediately competitive. Announcements will be made on this in the coming weeks.

General Manager of Football Luke Powell said ‘We are delighted to be a part of the SANFL Women’s State League competition for season 2019 and beyond. Our club sees female participation in football at both Junior and Senior level essential in broadening our reach into the community and enhancing an already strong club culture. With the ongoing development of our female junior programs it is exciting to now have a strong pathway for the girls to aspire to.’
The Club is yet to fully understand all the regulations on list management and talent distribution from the SANFL due to the new expansion rules. We look forward to releasing this information soon.

The Club will in the next few days be calling for an expression of interest in all areas involved in Female football and look forward to an enthusiastic response.

As proud sponsors of the Woodville West Torrens Football Club, iCorp Insure would like to introduce their new recruit.  I am sure you all recognise Club co-captain Luke Thompson.

Luke has made the switch from, on the tools, to in the office and now completes the iCorp family business joining his brother Scott Thompson and father-in-law Daniel Hubbard.

There is now an even greater incentive to engage their services, not only will you be supporting those that support the football club but you will also be supporting Luke in his new career.

Established in 2017 iCorp Insure is one of South Australia’s newest general business and personal insurance brokers. In an increasingly impersonal world of online self-service, call centre queues and off-the-shelf products, iCorp Insure is an insurance brokering company that puts relationships and personalised service first.

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is pleased to announce that Tess Baxter has been appointed as the Eagles SANFL Women's Coach for the 2019 season.

Tess brings with her a wealth of coaching experience from the Adelaide Footy League as a Division 1 Women's Head Coach for Adelaide University and more recently as an assistant at Norwood's SANFL Women's League side. Tess also has a distinguished playing career that links her back to the Club when she represented the Eagles for 2002 to 2008 in Women's Football.

Tess is currently employed fulltime as the Club Development Officer for the Adelaide Footy League and volunteers as the Coaching and Programs Coordinator for the Adelaide University Women's Football Club.

"I am extremely excited to be appointed Senior Coach of the Eagles Women's League team and I fully understand the challenges ahead with establishing a new team that embraces the successful Eagles club culture and philosophies,' she said.

"The club is making a genuine investment in women's football by establishing the Women's Football Committee and is well positioned to ensure long term strategies and goals are implemented for female football."

Tess appointment follows the formation of the Eagles Women's Football Committee which was established in June by the Club Board. The committee consists of Christine Williams (Chair), The Hon Susan Close MP, Sally Underdown, Samantha Skuse and Narelle Fletcher. The committee has been established to ensure that the Club positions itself as a leader not only within the SANFL but the broader South Australian sporting community for inclusion and equality in all on field and off field dealings.

"We're thrilled to have Tess on board - she brings with her significant experience in women's football coaching and player development," said Club Football Director David Couzner.

"We are looking forward to working with Tess and the Women's Football Committee to ensure we implement a high performing female football program, that will ensure not only on field success but more importantly inclusion and equality w

Hopefully Comma can get back, but I doubt it based on how he looked Friday night.

One of the Club's biggest annual events, the Eagles Carnival Day, returns this Sunday when we host the Adelaide Crows SANFL side.

Members and their families can enjoy a huge range of fun free activities including a Rock Climbing Wall, Jumping Castle, Face Painting and Colouring In Area.

In our biggest carnival day yet, the Free Kids Community Treasure Hunt has a record 16 stops all around the oval including the McDonalds SANFL Activation Zone plus displays from the Adelaide Strikers (Big Bash), Adelaide 36'ers (Basketball) and Adelaide Bite (Baseball).

All kids (And parents of young kids) are welcome to take part in the Eagles Kids Parade. Gather at the Southern Goals at 1.40pm for the parade which starts at 1.50pm and ends up as Guard of Honour for when the players run out at 2pm.

As for the footy which starts at 2.10pm, we are in a must win situation to maintain second spot and a finals double chance, taking on a Crows side that has shown great improvement in recent weeks.

Don't forget to bring a footy, or buy one on the day, to have a kick on the oval at the quarter, half or three quarter time breaks.

Ticket Boxes open 11.30am. Entry is FREE for those under 18 years of age.

Patrons can enjoy offerings from the canteens, BBQ and coffee van plus the upstairs bistro will be offering the full a la carte menu including a $12 special for either a Schnitzel and Chips or Burger and Chips.

Firstly we would like to thank you for your loyal support in 2018, attending all 8 home games so far this season!

There are just two games left at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval in the 2018 season. If you attend these last two home games you will receive a double pass to the 2018 SANFL Macca's League Finals Series plus you'll also go into the draw to win a double pass to the 2018 Macca's League Official Grand Final Luncheon.
