Re: Recruiting for 2018
Zac Milbank mentioned yesterday Beech was weighi up options, likely to stay at West but is considering another SANFL club offer, as well as a move to Victoria under former coach Andy Collins.
We’ll see soon enough I guess.
On another note, the fixture shouldn’t be far away you’d think...?

The Eagles were heavily into Jono Beech, wanted to come but had to overcome loyalty to the Bloods. Eventually loyalty won. Would have been a great get.

I apologise for going over board this year on the so called recruits
For me I’ll keep being me

Well said Mickyj. Your passion has overcome reasoning but never lose that passion. Go Eagles.

It took the Micky being taken out of me badly enough for me to understand
I’m not the person I used to be
But I can and always will support the eagles

Re: Recruiting for 2018
Went to the first training on Wednesday 29th of Nov. Nothing much to report, it looked like everyone that was expected to be there was there except our captain Luke Thompson who was in Port Douglas where he was to be married on the Saturday. Quite a few of the players were invited up to the wedding.
Vonbertouch, Redden, Gray, Sharrad and Rudloff were all there.

Re: Recruiting for 2018
Went to training last night, spoke with Mick Godden and Luke Powell. Recruiting has finished.
Mickyj.......Seb. G. was definitely at THE EAGLES training. Mick G. said they were assessing him, no guarantees.
Luke Thompson back from honeymoon doing extra training.
Bob Cross will be Mick's senior assisstant.
Wayne Knowles will assist Vinnie Rugolo with the reserves.
Ben Watkins will make guest appearances to help out.
Joe Pedler and Daniel Thomas will mentor the senior leadership group.
Was told that Malcolm Karpanny and Cam Sutcliffe were only given one year extensions to end of 2018 season. Their futures at current clubs are unsure.
Luke Powell said he would be disappointed if Jake Weidemann, Jimmy Rowe and Cooper Gaffney didn't play some league matches in 2018.
That's all folks.

Good feedback Wimpy. Cam Sutclifffe is to good for SANFL. Would get picked up but Karpanny would be handy. Good regarding Jake Weidemann, Jimmy Rowe and Cooper Gaffney probably getting games. Why recruit if good players in your back yard.

So with all these players leaving in the last 2 years and very little coming in...why wouldn't they pay a little extra to keep one of the best players at the club...really ordinary..

Re: Recruiting for 2018
If you are talking about Almond, he did the dirty on the club. Six weeks earlier he willingly signed a contract with the club, then held the club to ransom when he got into difficulties and a dubious offer from another club was made. I say let him go, put time and effort into the juniors that want to be there. Also, the club does'nt want to over commit with the possibility of four former Eagles being delisted at the end of 2018. The club wants to be in a position to be able to cater for those players if the opportunities arrive.

Totally agreed. loved him as a player but he made his choice. Salary cap and club finances are more important for club survival. One door closes another opens.

Re: Recruiting for 2018
"goddy 11", why upset other players while giving him more. Plus we got a very good payment from N.A. for his clearance. Almond would have been the last player I thought would have left the Eagles, but sometimes circumstances overrule loyalty.

Guess that’s the old saying
The club lives on players come and go
Nutsy was one of my favourite players but he left he is no longer an Eagle

I'll make my pilgrimage next Thursday to the club to see our new senior players. Hoping for a surprise.
