I kind of guessed that Redder thanksReddeer wrote:Glenelg offered more moneyMickyj wrote:wimpy wrote:Luke Reynolds was one of the first we spoke to along with Shared.
Being a positive Micky rather than a negative Nelly I’ll guess he didn’t meet the clubs needs .
The 3 players Wimpy mentioned were mentioned by a south fan in sa footy by saying had we announced them yet .

Zac Milbank on Twitter claims he expects the Eagles to make some announcements next week, saying it will be “worth the wait”.

"worth the wait" it would have to mean something more than just Magpie top up players...that would be totally underwhelming

Re: Recruiting for 2018
I do have a feeling we were keen on Reynolds... but missed out, like a number of clubs did.
But will be interesting to see potential announcements.

Re: Recruiting for 2018
Yeah that’s the mail I got too... Eagles (again like 7 other clubs) have asked the question, but we’re not keen for a 1 year at best player before leaving to go home.
And realistically that’s what Eddy is.

There's a comment on another site that we have locked up some magpies midfielders...It must be Summerton

Jarrad Wright pinching old players already.
We needed to pick up the other Summerton from Port.

Re: Recruiting for 2018
He hasn’t signed with South yet... doing a pre-season with them and take it from there.
Wright would still have his reservations (first hand)...not a league player for mine. Was actually surprised he was still there this year.

Re: Recruiting for 2018
Unfortunately Summo played well in the reserves but was far too defensive in the league team. Rate Heinjus and Summo very similar, only need one of them for back up. Wright would have coached him in the reserves so knows his capabilities.

I don’t always not bite in the rumour season a south fan on SA Footy dropping Port players names not all the ones mentioned on our page .
Gray is a new one first time I’ve heard that name

Re: Recruiting for 2018
The Woodville-West Torrens Football Club is excited to announce the signings of Louis Sharrad, Tom Gray and Nathan Rudloff for the 2018 season. All three players spent 2017 at the Port Adelaide Football Club.
On signing the trio Senior Coach Michael Godden said "We are delighted to secure three well established League footballers who, at a young age, will not only be able to make an instant impact at our football Club but also for many years to come. All three men portray tremendous qualities as individual players and people that fits perfectly within our Club culture.”
Originally from Flinders Park Football Club, Louis Sharrad said the transition to Oval Avenue would be made easier given his friendship with 2017 Club Champion Joseph Sinor. The 2017 Reserves Magarey Medallist said he was also looking forward to continuing his career alongside Gray and Rudloff, who are also seeking more opportunity.
Gray, the younger brother of Power star Sam Gray, averages just under a goal a game and can also push up into the centre square to add depth to the midfield rotation. Tom will look to continually develop himself to become an elite midfielder and looks forward to helping the Eagles push for success.
Tea Tree Gully product Rudloff has been a steady influence in defence, having the ability to play on small and medium-sized forwards since making his debut in 2016. Nathan will strengthen the already integral defensive back six, with the ability to push higher up the ground.
The Club is also excited to welcome back to Oval Avenue Vinnie Rugolo, who has been appointed as Reserves and Development coach for 2018.
Rugolo, who played 81 League games and booted 105 goals for the Eagles between 2003 and 2007, has been playing and coaching for Goolwa/Port Elliot in the Great Southern Football League.
On his appointment, Vinnie said “I am excited to work with such a promising young group and look forward to developing not only the young players at the club but also my coaching ability in such a wonderful program. I thank the club for an outstanding opportunity.”
this makes it official

Re: Recruiting for 2018
I know Sharrod is a good quality player but I don't know much on the other 2 players. Can anyone that them give a description on playing ability. Will they be first choice or just squad players.

Re: Recruiting for 2018
From what I understand, it was really just Sharrod the Eags were after, but it was basically a “package deal”... mates wanting to play together. Probably not bad to add a bit of depth.
We were probably initially expecting Toumpas as well.
Maybe next year.

I saw that online of it being a package deal to .
Eagles need players so shouldn’t hurt I hope .
Toumpas and Ellis Yoeman might come home next year

Phil has been playing for BSR in the mid north with Sam Heinjus. Might still have a bit of good footy left in him.

Good on the recruiting people this year. We were all frustrated last year with retirements and lack of recruiting early on.

Re: Recruiting for 2018
I know it's a long way to the 2018 season but I thought I would throw together a possible team for 2018 with what we know sofar:
F........Boyd..............Lukosius...............Poole
H/F.....N. Hayes.........J. Hayes..............Goldsworthy
C.......Johansen...........Sinor..................Hall
H/B.....Rudloff............Von Bertouch........Allmond
B........Giuffreda..........Thompson............Stewart
Redden.............West...............J. Lee
Petrenko...........Rowland...........Gaffney
Sharrad............T. Gray.............Lewis
............................................Comitogianni
............................................Borholm
............................................Firns
.............................................Woods
............................................Heinjus
.............................................Rowe
.............................................Weidemann
............................................C. Gaffney
Please be very critical.....I can take it.
Tried to get a bit more talent on the ball.
Didn't include A McPherson as he will get drafted (also possibly Weidemann).
