Apparently he was an eagles junior and then was told not required and went to the Magpies...

It's not an ACL, but a setback nonetheless.

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
I just got my Club annual Report. The club seems to have improved its finances which is good. The Eagles club has not gone so well. The report is not as detailed as previous reports but fair enough I only look at the bottom line anyway.
I may have missed it but have we lost Scott Matthews as reserves coach. Mick Godden wrote the reserves season analysis. If yes, who is in charge now.

Holden has a point though..think he is concerned with the direction the club is taking or lack thereof...whats worse is not saying anything and just accepting mediocrity...truthfully i can't understand it .......losing so many players and others with injuries and not recruiting is bizarre especially given that are finances seem okay.......

Ok i am not close to the club
Holden 78 has a right to complain but every post is complaining about Godden and yes men and no recruits excluding Stewart ,
We then have a post on this page telling us what Godden said at the members night recruits were mentioned i think besides Stewart .
The club is not telling us whats going on .
But Holden 78 is only telling half a story against the coach against Powell .
And i was talking to Eagles Fans who have spoken personally with Godden what they told me was nothing compared to what Holden 78 has been saying on SA Footy .
The ex eagle junior ex magpie ex glenelg player came up on talking footy that /godden was interested in him .
Then we hear about Rowntrees injury after we heard of the other injuries .
We do not know whats going on
Holden 78 is saying everything totally opposite to what every other Eagles fan has told me .
So do we sit and wait to hear from the club ?
or do we rally behind holden 78 and take pitch forks and torches to oval ave .
Honestly whats going on at oval ave

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
OMG. We have some passionate supporters. FFs. Do you all not think our management and coach know the situation. Interstate recruits cost an arm and leg and the same with big name recruits. Our main concern is to stay fiscally healthy as well as perform well on the field. Our reserves and juniors have been great for a few years and now is the time to start rewarding them. Unless there is a standout why should we recruit players from other clubs and pay overs and high transfers fees. Lets just be patient and let the experts do their work. I have a lot of faith in Goddy and I'm sure he does not accept mediocracy.
Anyway that's my 2 bobs worth.

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
Nailed it Goddy11.
Godden would've reassessed, as he did after 2012 and 2014.
I dare say that his plan would be to challenge again in 2018/19, whilst still being competitive this year.
Reality is we've missed 2 golden opportunities to win Premierships, that can't change, and we'd be in this position whether we'd won them or not. So now it's time to build towards the next realistic opportunity.
I hope both he and the club have the patience to see it through, cuz as I've said before, Godden hasn't done too much wrong in his 7 seasons.

He writes a lot of Eagle things on SAFooty but never actually writes anything positive
hell im the last positive person but at some time some one must see some positive things

Well, the AGM is Monday. I can't get along but can anyone on this forum ask a few questions on the clubs progress. The Eagles club has recorded a loss, why.

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
I believe Eagles and Tigers are in negotiations over a transfer fee for Jake Johansen.
Usual dispute over what he is worth. Glenelg didn't want him, so they can't ask all that much.
Also, Tigers still owe Eagles money for Tim Sumner.
Final straw for JJ was his meeting with the Tigers player leadership group and was told they didn't want him........................do the Eagles re ally need him!!!!!!!!!!!
Our commercial manager has been in hospital for three weeks, one of many reasons why there has been a slow start to the season.
A reserves coach has been appointed and should be announced at AGM tomorrow.

Re: 2017 What do we need to take the next step
Thanks Wimpy. Undecided about Jake Johansen. He has a good pedigree but is similar in statue to a few of our players. If he comes cheap good. Does not seem the position he plays is filling our player requirements. Tim Sumner would have been better.
Does not sound good with the commercial manager.3 weeks in a SA hospital. Wow. Best wishes to him.
