Apparently we were talking to 2 other players, one from WA who decided to stay and another that signed at Centrals

The problem with the a weak draft is that they are looking at SANFL WAFL and VFL to fill the rookie spots

I'm sure that they would have backup plans if so. Their is always a few extras or so that are training to get a spot on the list

So far the revealed recruits are fairly underwhelming

There are more recruits to be named as they said it during the week or so

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
Maybe McPherson and Morris have said "No" already.
But, hopefully, they are still in the picture ( even Kaelen Bradtke) and our Club and player won't announce it until the completion of the Rookie Draft. Can look a real Goose when you announce a recruit only to have him taken from you 2 weeks later.
For me, I would like to see an experienced midfielder signed. Next, another tall key tall CHF/FF/ruck. Jordan Moore looks to have the speed/agility to play backpocket if he's not ready for CHB. So another tall would help that option plus cover CHF if Jack Boyd needs to ruck ( or struggles at CHF).

Isn’t that what they wanted players not on the AFL radar

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
With the injury record of Morris and Mcpherson i can't see them being picked up in the draft. I'd be surprised if they didn't sign at the eagles. Kaelen Bradtke was best mates with Riley Collier Dawkins so now he's gone i doubt that will happen. If you were an AFL scout you would have to be looking at Beattie Beeken and Rowe given that they stand out so much above the rest of the group. There's no back up plan for losing these players. Beattie has been invited for AFL testing, heard beeken has spoken to 3 clubs and rowe at least 1.

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
My info re Bradtke's friendships is that Carter Norman, Eagles fringe Seconds player, is his good mate and a reason why he was attracted to the Eagles last preseason (before Richmond listed him). A good reason for keeping Carter Norman at the Club !

McPherson's injury affected career is well known but I didn't know that Josh Morris had multiple injuries - just not good enough for AFL footy

One of the reasons (amongst others) that the club wasn't able to play finals this year is that our best team was rarely able to get onto the park together. For the past few years we have carried too many injury prone players - Cameron, Lonergan, Goldy, Toumpas, Mcfarlane, Lehmann - all important players to the team's fortunes but none of which you could have confidence to string together 4 consecutive games before going down with a soft tissue injury. That's potentially a third of the team of starters from last season.
Here's hoping we can get a squad together this upcoming season that stays on the park!

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
Josh Morris may not be known to some Eagles supporters. He was a good U18 FF, amongst the leading goalkickers butat, approx 187cm, was never going to play that position in AFL. Hawthorn signed him because they thought they could coach him into a very good HF flanker but he took a long time to give up that lead up markkick game and add the running, tackling team first game of a HF. Even played him at HB flank with some VFL success. And his highlights reel playing as a HFflanker is good so he did develope but not enough. If the Eagles got him, I see him as a very good sanfl HFflanker - similar attributes to Will Pearce but is faster and a more reliable shot on goal. Kicks long and marks like Will.
Having spent 3 years in Melbourne, he may have his mates there with a girlfriend and no intention of returning but we can only hope.
One has to respect the magnificent job Centrals did last season recruiting approx 14 players to the mirth of opposition supporters and having ( I'm told) approx 8 succeeding and lifting them up the ladder in great style

Carter told me at club champion night that he hasn't been offered a contract for next year but he's doing a pre session with us same as a number of players too. I asked him and a few others

Still early days with Josh think you'll find as i asked a official at under 18's the first round if Josh was going to get desisted anytime would he come back the person said yes so i wouldn't rule it out besides theirs a few or so recruits to me named.

Siney and R. Williams are the only two other players doing a pre season for a spot on the list

Keep Carter Norman around the Club until we know Bradtke's intentions.

Jack Firns playing on with the Eagles in 2024.
Port District tried hard to convince him otherwise.
