Headfan wrote:Could be The Barton, but doubt it as there are many McKays all over the place. BTW David McKay married Lindsay Head’s daughter.
Also we’ve been very lucky with Lukes!
Recruits: Powell, Jarrad, Thompson, Toia (mixed results).
Home-grown: Beecken
BTW. What happened to David. I recall being at the footy club when he came to WT and was presented to the fans. He was so quiet. You couldn't shut him up when he was commentating on C7 and ABC.

If he is the former WWT Eagle he won't be playing much in 2024 because he had an ACL op. just before the finals.

Mitch is/was back in town, Sam mentioned in his interview with Zac Millbank that he has been at the club training everyday.

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
Hardie will get another year at Geelong according to the Geelong Advertiser. Deservedly so. They really should have to sign players on a minimum 18 month contract if getting picked in the mid-season draft.

Have I missed something?
Why isn't there speculation re McNeil who hasn't yet been contracted by Western Bulldogs for next season.

Geelong may be waiting on how many young midfielders they pick up in the draft. If they score 2 then Mitch might be superfluous and be desisted.

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
You're right Premiers, McNeil could be a chance to be cut/not contracted.
He has strong roots to SA with his Partner being Cica's Step Daughter.
She moved to Melbourne with him.

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
So Hardy, Morris, McPherson, Tsitas and McNeil all still possibilities but
a 195cm plus CHF,
a 195cm plus CHB and
a 200cm plus ruck/forward have to be prorities after we badly missed the recruiting targets for last season.

I'm not sure even another flag would make our ragtag group "bearable"......but lets try.

The other week the Herald Sun published a list of those players from each AFL club who still don't have a contract for next season. McNeil was not one of those players. I recall reading some article during the year that indicated McNeil still has one more year to go. So we may well be speculating on his return this time next year.
If we achieved recruiting all those players above then we'd instantly be a top 3 side.
The reality is that all salary cap would be unlikely to accommodate all of the above. So like I have said previously our #1 priority has to be going for the three talls. Then, and only then, should we be turning our attention to getting Morris and McPherson. Talls have to be our priority. Half back flankers not so much.

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
And the westernbulldogs site, and big footy.com, zerohanger.com, sen.com.au
But maybe there's more to it because Sauce didn't mention McNeil's name when talking about possibles "Hardy, Morris and McPherson"
