Recruits for Season 2024

I feel totally stupid getting the rumoured player confused with someone of the same surname. Hopefully I won’t stuff up any more things today

A premiership player who certainly did his bit in the 2021 finals.
However, his body has let him down badly since then so easily replaceable in that sense.
Would have consumed a fair slice of our minimal salary cap too I'd say.

Looks like one of the signings is luke mckay from narrendera (NSW Country). Think he is a midfielder but not sure.

Looks like a more than useful player. 3 B&F for his club. Assist coach at Narrandera. From the Eagles to the Eagles! Could be a Mitch Hardie/James Tsitas replacement.

Luke McKay was named Country NSW/ACT best AFL male player in January this year.
Seems to be quite a good accolade.

Does he have a younger brother 10 cm taller than him that he can bring along?

So in a good way we have gone back to the old days a very good thing to do . As we’ve mentioned the players already it’s worked before hopefully it will keep working

On paper he seems like an excellent recruit. The story sites behind a pay paywall so can't open it. How old is he?

His stats in the season just gone suggest he is a goal-kicking midfielder averaging over 1 per game. Useful.

While searching for information on Luke McKay I came across this article from 5 days ago on Max Beattie

I can't read the story - once again damn paywall - but the heading is 'Max Beattie on the radar of AFL talent scouts after impressive debut season with Woodville-West Torrens'. From what I can gather he has received a call from an AFL scout.

Beattie looked very promising this season but I'd be shocked if he got drafted.

Based on the info on PlayHQ I'd say he would be 25 or 26

Wonder if Luke is any relation to David McKay from West Torrens days …..

Could be The Barton, but doubt it as there are many McKays all over the place. BTW David McKay married Lindsay Head’s daughter.
Also we’ve been very lucky with Lukes!
Recruits: Powell, Jarrad, Thompson, Toia (mixed results).
Home-grown: Beecken

Wait, there’s more:
Luke Spehr, Luke Peel, Luke Duncan

Left them out as they played only 10, 4 and 9 games respectively.
At a push I’d have accepted Robert and Jack LUKosius but not Jordan LUKac or LUKas Cooke. Not yet anyway.
