If he was playing for the Eagles this upcoming season and was drafted at the end of next season presumably the compensation for his drafting goes into the 'pool' that is shared equally amongst all SANFL clubs thereby diluting the return.

Now that he is playing for the Crows reserves I presume the Crows wouldn't be paying compensation to any SANFL club upon drafting him at the end of next season.

So in hindsight maybe the Eagles are maximising the return $$ value they get on Welsh by having him play for the Crows this season as they wouldn't have to share that with the other SANFL clubs.

"The Crows paid the Eagles $5,000 as compensation for taking Welsh from us a year early. The payment is from the Crows.
I would like to point out this is a seperate payment than the one the SANFL will get from the AFL for the drafting of Welsh next year by the Crows. That payment will be distributed between the eight SANFL clubs."

U know it would be very nice for the club to keep up updated re Clay Cameron and others that they've left but nothing via email but if i wasn't a member on here i wouldn't have known as the sanfl hasn't updated ins and outs for next season and also be nice to know the new coaching panel and reserves coach

Not all the members would be a member of thus forum and not necessarily people would check the sanfl website during off season unless they see it on social media.

Maybe the S is lucky for the Eagles. It was in 1993!

I've met his partner before but that's the same reason why Clay went back to Queensland as his first child is due in January. He told someone and i about it at cc. But not his move home.

Went to training last night, not much to report, none of our recruits there yet.
Jack Firns and Dane McFarlane were definitely there.
A number of last seasons U18s trained.
They mainly went through a few drills, had a BBQ afterwards.

The midfield coach is a Nathan from Ardrossan he used to play under 20's for us about 20 years ago and was either reserves coach or reserves coaching panel for ersti. Don't know surname as my brother met him the other week
