But maybe there's more to it because Sauce didn't mention McNeil's name when talking about possibles "Hardy, Morris and McPherson"
There are lots of players on that list. There is a date that all clubs need to finalize their lists. We need to wait on that and after all free agents know their fate. Could be January next year.

Noticed on another forum that Kai Pudney has signed with the dogs.

Confirmed on the Centrals FB page. They seem to be a destination club at the moment.

I suspected it was an Eagles player when Big Phil put out a cryptic note.

Kai Pudney. Always a "gut busting runner" and gave the Eagles his 100%. Unfortunately, his kicking let him down, lacking penetration. His wing position will be covered by Herbert, Beattie, Barkla.
Wide open spaces of Elizabeth Oval should suit Kai and wish him well.

I wonder if centrals approached him or we told him to go

Another option, Mickyj, is that Kai saw the writing on the wall after an injury-plagued season and other players competing for his wing position. A serviceable player with a Premiership Medal who played with endeavour, but never a game buster. Like Premiers I wish him well but I’ m concerned he may find it hard to be a consistent starter against other established and emerging players.

On their Facebook post it said they had been after him for the best part of 12 months.
Had a terrible year with injury then surgery and long recovery, maybe needs a fresh start,

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
About this time last year rumours were rife that Pudney was going to North Adelaide, it never eventuated. It appears for some reason he has been keen to move from Oval Avenue.
Although a good runner his decision making and disposals were well below average.

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
Now that’s interesting wimpy years ago at Adelaide oval I can’t recall which of our teams Pudney was in . Wasn’t league they’d won the final walking around the boundary. This family runs over in their north gear congratulating Pudney . After they walk back you could hear them say he’s related to one of them he’s coming to north .wimpy wrote:About this time last year rumours were rife that Pudney was going to North Adelaide, it never eventuated. Re: Recruits for Season 2024
Although disappointed in Pudney's decision, it's worth remembering he couldn't make our A grade for much of 2022 hence the rumours about a switch to the North cheats in 2023. We didn't see much of him in 2023 due to injury (first 4 games) so we've lost someone we didn't have anyway for 3/4 of it. Would certainly have been in our best 22 in 2023 if available and probably 2024. So be it, I think we'll move on pretty quickly. He's got a premiership medal to savour, I will always remember his feeble kick for goal on the Eastern side in the 2021 Grand Final.

Always thought Nathan Studham would have made a better winger than Pudney, let's hope we can get him back and in the right frame of mind.

Yes, Dave Couzner's regular communication to members is appreciated.
Just need some good news on key signings ASAP.
Pudney's departure didn't even rate a mention from him!

This is a good comment Micky
For all the great work that Sheedy did for the club I think he didn't do a great job with the communication to Members.
In his first season we got a couple of assessments post match but they were really only half-baked and you could see very little effort went into them. Then they became increasingly irregular. Then they stopped altogether. I appreciate that all coaches have a different style and writing match reports may not be to everyone's liking but it does go a long way I think and is appreciated. Whoever was the U18s coach last season would regularly provide a post match write-up and did it well. It was often the only way I could keep tabs on our up and coming players.
In years past Fuller and Godden were also two coaches who would regularly engage.

Re: Recruits for Season 2024
Disappointing (for us) to lose Mitch Hardie for at least another year with Geelong handing him an extension today. At least, we know he likes the Eagles and is likely to return to us whenever his AFL stint finishes. We do need another quality midfielder with only Rowe and Knight up with the best midfielders of other Clubs (and possibly Joe Sinor but he is probably more of a valuable consistent workhorse rather than a prolific matchwinner). Then there's the developing D'Áloia and the untried HB/midfielder Luke McKay. Gaining Tsitas would fix though I would expect him to return to Melbourne. So 3 talls (CHF,CHB,ruck) and Tsitas, we're dreaming then McPherson and Morris. I expect McNeil will be re-signed by Western Bulldogs at the last moment, if not, he would be young enough and still with some ability to be placed on someone's supplementary list. Exciting times!
Also be interesting watching how much 197cm ruck/forward Luck, 190cm HF/FPocket Tyler Welsh and 195cm FF, CHF Charlie West develop.

"hawke" great to see you posting again, always enjoy your left of centre thoughts.
It will be interesting see where the club plays Welsh, Luck, West and Herbert as they are still eligible for U18s. Also I heard Bickley say that F/S rules had changed and that Tyler Welsh could possibly spend the whole year at the Crows, I would be absolutely filthy if this happens. This is more AFL bullshit and again they're crapping on lesser leagues.
I would hope in the long run we could use Hardies' stay at Geelong as beneficial to our club in regards to possible recruits.

Is that an AFL rule or SANFL rule Wimpy. That could impact WWT for other players then. Burgoyne to PA. Is SANFL rule we should complain in the strongest of terms.wimpy wrote:"hawke" great to see you posting again, always enjoy your left of centre thoughts.

If AFL there are a few lads at other clubs that it affects. We need to get some answers from our board on what is going on.

Hi Wimpy. Recruits from Geelong! More like the other way! I know there’s been a few. I’m sick of Geelong ravaging Eagles players!
