Re: THE 2022 SEASON
The 4 players listed are an indication that the Power wanted immediate proven " impact players" since they might be used just 1-2x/season. Kobe Mutch and Riley Knight must have been close (instead of Troy Menzel) but probably midfielders (Partington etc) from other SANFL clubs being chosen meant that Power had to cover other positions.

Re: THE 2022 SEASON
A few injury concerns out of last week's game:
Seb - results of ankle scan back today
Dual Premiership player Jack Firns (still hard to believe he's a B2B, love him) - did his ankle in Ruck on Saturday, restricted to the Bike last night at training but doesn't appear to be too bad.
Ethan Haylock's run of bad luck continues - went down with a Knee at training last night, didn't look good at all (possible ACL/MCL).
Good to see Riley Knight back out there and Charlie Adams

Re: THE 2022 SEASON
Jack Firns rucking at the centre-bounces last week (when Seb went down) did surprisingly well, at 190cm better than 196cm Lukac who is still learning to position his body strength and time his leap.
Rather than being just a role player, Jack Firns is commanding respect as a genuine centre half forward who controls the corridor - now, if he can just kick a "break-through" bag of 3 goals to get that
self belief, he'll be taken very seriously.

Re: THE 2022 SEASON
I see that Psitas hasnt made the Gold Coast side for this week. Anyone know if he is injured, or is he playing in the swaps of southern queensland?

I think the GC has a team in the VFL comp which starts next week.

Re: THE 2022 SEASON
I wonder if we talked to any Darwin players about coming over while we were there earlier in the year.

Mutch and Knight would have been the other two I would have chosen, I don't think T. Menzel has been in very good form so far in the trial matches, has missed some very easy goals.

Re: THE 2022 SEASON
Went and had a look, U16s quite good, U18s not very good, outclassed in all areas.
The annoying thing about the U16s match was that Scott Camporeale's sons were playing for Glenelg.

From memory they were a very West Torrens family. I suppose we got Redden and Rowe so it happens.

Re: THE 2022 SEASON
Unsure of your Redden reference, he came from Y.P. Don't know of any relative connection to another SANFL club.
Scott Camporeale drafted from Woodville/West Torrens in 1994.

Re: THE 2022 SEASON
Wouldn't get "hung up" re Camporeale with Glenelg. Happens often with boys growing up in another district and wanting to play with their schoolmates e.g. we gained James Rowe, lost Harry Puhle's son to Glenelg, lost "Scruff"Hanna's lad to Centrals, gained McNeil from Norwood's Tim McNeil.
Camporeale didn't qualify for "Father Son" ruling, not having played enough games. Plus with re-zoning of large part of our area to Glenelg doesn't help.

Re: THE 2022 SEASON
Hawke I understand the +/-s but you always like to see the best play for your club.
I have to correct you about "SANFL father/son" rule. The father now has only to have played one league game for a SANFL club for the son to be an eligible father/son. This changed several years ago.

Actually he had two sons playing, I pretty sure twins. One had 28 disposals and the other 27. Both would have been in the best three for Glenelg. I'm not looking for a fight it was more a point of interest.

Re: THE 2022 SEASON
Whilst the Eagles are benefitting from our new zone down Ethelton way with the Mead's, Burgoyne's, Schoefield etc coming through, unfortunately the parents (and kids) don't seem to get behind the club. Never seen Darren Mead back at the Club for presentations or Jackson or Mitch for that matter either. And we all know what Peter did with Jace B in last years U18 GF.

Of course how could I forget (thank you Aerie). But Denis was an over 21 yo when he came to us, didn't need a clearance from North. Wasn't even in our zone area. I think he had been playing country football when he came to us. Was starting to play excellent football for the Eagles when he left to manage a farm in Victoria.

Never seen Darren or wife inside the club, usually attend all Mitch's matches. Mitch generally comes back, joins in and seems to have a good time.
