Yep that’s true I should’ve thought like that

Don't know about Trent Burgoyne, haven't asked, don't really care. I feel the Burgoyne family is very contrary to deal with. Put 100% effort in to those that are fully committed.
Phantom drafts for 2022 rate Adam D'Aloia as a top ten draft pick, one has him as high as number four. Reminds me of a very young Christian Pretracca.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Eagles have five players named in the 2022 SANFL talent Squad.
Adam D'Aloia
Blake Hansen
Mattaes Phillipou
Jedd Thompson
Patrick Weckert
Adam, Blake and Mattaes are eligible for the 2022 draft and Jedd and Patrick are eligible for the 2023 draft.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
What is the date of the preseason Darwin match WWT vs Northern Territory in Darwin? Presume it's late Jan. When Glenelg played in it, I recall it was many weeks before the first pre- season trial.
After watching Connor Ballenden's highlight reel for about the 8th time, there must be a chance he might be taken in the preseason draft.

With border closures and such , I suspect the game may not happen. I haven't seen any schedules for it.
The PS draft happed the day after the national draft. I think you may be thinking of train on player that some club use. They can take players in the SSP that will take place from Monday January 10 to Wednesday March 9, 2022

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Yes- I meant the SSP draft. I guess we may escape losing him there because he won't have any chance to show "new form". But if he fires in the first half of the season, then the midseason draft is a worry. We want him to play well but not TOO well !!

Unfortunately St Kilda has two spots they can fill on their roster.
St Kilda most probably getting so good advice from Cooper Sharman on him!!!!!!!!

Listening to SEN radio this morning, they were discussing Jack Hayes going over to train with St Kilda. They also said that St Kilda only had one spot available.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
I can see Jack getting rookie listed then languishing in the vfl reserves waiting for an opportunity. Getting paid more than he would at the Eagles but due to the way this virus is still going in Victoria chances are they may not even pay that comp again. Who would want to go to Victoria at the moment anyway

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
I hope we are looking at a replacement asap. He is a dominant part of our team. Control forward line, backlines and holds his own in ruck. He thoroughly deserves a place on an AFL list. I'm sad the Crows did not take a chance on him.

I'm not sure how many spots they have but Jack is their only train on player. Gonski imo.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Always thought the Eagles needed another good ready midfielder but didn't count on losing Tsitas. Is it too late to re-open the recruiting books ? If only Mutch, Knight and Sinor left as class onballers, we need 5 not 3 (don't class Lonergan in top echelon).

Not gone yet. Trained with Eagles Monday night. Been invited to train with GC. Apparently Gold Coast have four train on players.
Would think he would go after Xmas break.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
At this stage I would think Nathan Freeman would be the favourite to get the vacant spot, but Gold Coast is in desperate need of on field leadership and James could fill this roll admirably.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
If we're lucky and retain James Tsitas, hope he is given early notice from Gold Coast to ensure any mandatory quarantine on return to Adelaide doesn't delay his preparation for our first game. Same can be said for Jack Hayes (if not taken) although he could drive back from Victoria rather than risk a Covid case on the aircraft. Even Connor Ballenden needs a little luck in his flight to Adelaide after Christmas.
Geez.....after all the downers to the club, wouldn't it be nice to have a new "recruit" walk into the club...... like Jordan Foote announcing he would like to have another stint with us.

Jack Hayes was just interviewed on 5AA and he said that St Kilda will let him know at the end of January if he will make their list.

I'm with you that GC are looking at Freeman first but its a shame a quality player like Jimmy should have to try out with a pox team like that to get a foot in the door. He reminds me of the way Rory Laird plays. I feel for Luko (apart from the $) that he is stuck there. I don't think the training at AFL level will hurt him. The AFL also has ways of changing the rules to accommodate GC.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Went to training/2km time trial this morning (Sat) at the Uni loop North Adelaide.
First seven were:
1) Kai Pudney
2) James Tsitas
3) Mattaes Phillipou
4) Kobe Mutch
5) Jack Firns
6) Zac Buck
7) Clay Cameron
Both Tsitas and J. Hayes were there.
A great run by young Phillipou (only 16 y.o.)
Rory Lehmann looked extremely fit, lost a lot of weight, and young forward Jack Wheare also has lost weight and looked very fit.
There were a few overagers that have been invited out, one was 20 y.o. Tyrone Hill from Gaza and formerly North Adelaide.
Training next Monday and Wednesday will complete this years sessions.
Connor Ballenden goes back to Brisbane tonight.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Thanks for the info, Wimpy. I might see you out there (? Eastern Parade) on Monday night.
Interesting Clay Cameron's good run in 2km trial. He was almost playing as a tall midfielder in the GF in the 2nd half (probably playing as a run-with defender up the ground) and read the play well. I thought then that he could turn into a handy midfielder in 2022 if he could build up his "engine" and, from your report, he might have done so.
