Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
We can add Pierce Seymour to the outs - he has signed with Norwood
(they got a defender - just not JVB)

Kobe Mutch has re-signed with the Eagles. Loves SA, loves the Eagles. His girlfriend will move over in December.
Brother, Rhys Mutch will transfer to South Adelaide.

Excellent. He just got better as the season progressed and was one of the best in the GF - which was his best game for the club. I was unsure on him early in the season. Love his ability to kick equally well on both feet.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Kobe Mutch's building form culminating with his top GF performance suggests he's capable of developing into one of the top 4- 5 onballers in the SANFL. His 188cm height also complements our otherwise short midfield (albeit one of our "shorties"winning the Magarey Medal) and is dangerous up forward.

Touch wood we don't get hammered in the rookie draft today. Congrats to Jase. Will be a very good player. I kept dreading that Jack Hayes would get called out.

IMHO, at best we'll lose Beecken only. At worst we'll lose Beecken, Litster and Lukac.

We would be unlucky to lose anyone now. Don't think there will be very many selected in the rookie draft that are new to AFL. Will be quite a few re-rookied, plus clubs will leave spaces for the start of season draft and the mid-season draft.

Agreed Wimpy - as evidenced by the Family's decision in the U18's Grand Final.
Anyone know what Trent is doing in 2022?

I was wondering the same thing . Anyone notice Port drafts the eldest then delists and drafts the better younger brother.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Thank goodness none of the Eagles were selected in the pre-season or rookie draft.
Thought this might happen. Just the pre-season supplementary and mid-season drafts to get through now.

off the top of my head. Something like that anyway
D Menzel Ballenden Lonergan
Goldsworthy Hayes T Menzel
Mutch Tsitas Toumpas
Allmond Cameron Duvall
Rowland Thompson Beecken
Redden Comma
Sinor McFarlane
Knight Firns
plus any number of quality 18s and Reserve lads will get an opportunity as seen in the last couple of season.
Is it now time to have another go, now that drafting is practically finished!!!!!!

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Mulling it over, will definitely post one (already have one on my magnetic board, but still shifting a few magnets around).
Hint, will certainly have Allmond on the wing, the coach picked him on the wing in the State team and seems to like his long powerful entries in to the forward area.
Will we play three talls, Thompson, Cameron and Lehmann in defence.
Like the use of Cameron as a bit of a floater, could easily go forward when either Hayes or Ballenden goes in to ruck.
Would like to fit in a couple of youngsters in Williams, Litster and Hoille.
Will be great to see how Cooke and Lukac develop in the reserves, we have a coach that will enjoy developing the youngsters.
Stay tuned.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Hey Wimpy,
Have you got any news on further recruits ? (congrats on being the first to give us the proven rumour on Connor Ballenden) You've been slack since then !
Sniff out a few more recruiting stories and make an old man happy!

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Talking to some of the coaching and Admin. staff on Monday at the old West Torrens Players and supporters lunch. They said there would be no more recruiting for 2022. The club will concentrate on developing the juniors to supplement the list.
I fully agree with this as we must give opportunities and pathways for our juniors or we will lose them. Beecken, Williams, Litster, Hoile, D'Aloia, Cooke, Lukac, Phillipou, Pearce, Blair, Launer, Neumann, Calvert, Adams and Nichols are a very promising group and must be encouraged and developed.

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Not sure we need any more recruits? The squad is stacked!
We've lost 5 Premiership players: Giuffreda, Poole, Stengle, Jungfer, Von Bertouch.
Recruited: Duval, Ballenden, Allmond.
If the 18 2021 Premiership players are fit Round 1, our team might be:
F: D.Menzel Ballenden T.Menzel
HF: Comitogianni Hayes Firns
C: Pudney Tsitas Beecken
HB: Sinor Lehmann Duval
B: Rowland Thompson Litster
R: Redden Mutch Knight
I: Toumpas Cameron Lonergan Goldsworthy
There are so many options still not named: Allmond, Hardie, Williams, McFarlane, Haylock, Mead plus the talented youngsters looking to debut.
The danger/reality is we lose a heap of experience over one or two seasons after 2022, so developing the next generation of leaders the calibre of Sinor, Thompson, Giuffreda, Poole, Hayes, Toumpas etc. whilst still having a crack at the flag will be a huge balancing act for Sheedy.

+1. With you Wimpy. We have 3 good recruits. The kids are great and we lost only 1 to the draft. I would say at least 4 above will make the cut. Is the Burgoyne lad chopped by PA returning?

It could also stop the drain of our seconds players going to Alberton as top up players

Re: Eagles Recruiting for 2022
Mickyj, no problem with our Seconds players who aren't in our best 28 going to Port. I would be guessing the Eagles, in a frank discussion, tells the player what are his future chances and then the player goes to Port with our blessing. Unblocks the system for an U18 to come through.
