Player rumours 2019/20

Sorry Eagle enthusiasts, this is not actually on topic. 

I thought that some of you [like me] may enjoy a footy fix to get you through the summer. This time of the year I turn my attention to the AFLNT - and really enjoy the free flowing game style played in the top end. 

I barrack for the St Marys 'Saints' and the Wanderers 'Eagles'. They played against each other on Saturday. There are some familiar names playing eg; Nick Yarran.

I might add that it was a hot 33 degrees, with 70% humidity in Darwin on Saturday, so everyone was sitting in the Grandstand. Cheers!

he WWTFC are delighted to announce the signing of defender Pierce Seymour for the 2020 season.

The 24-year-old spent 2019 as a part of the Adelaide Crows development squad and made his SANFL Statewide Super League debut in Round 13 this year and went on the play eight of the remaining nine games including all three finals for the Crows.

Seymour then returned to his local side Payneham Norwood Union who went on the win the Adelaide Footy League Division One premiership.

Senior Coach Jade Sheedy said Seymour showed what he is capable of at League level over the back end of last season and will be a great addition to the Club in 2020.

“After coaching against Pierce in the Adelaide Footy League previously I could see he was destined to play at a higher level. To see him perform strongly in the SANFL finals series for Adelaide wasn’t a surprise to me and as soon as I got the role here at the Eagles, I was keen to get him to the Club,” said Sheedy.

“At 190cm Pierce has the ability to play on talls or smalls and is a great user of the football with a damaging left foot which will provide plenty of drive from the back half for us.”

Now having tasted League football, Seymour is keen to establish himself as a regular at League level.

“Getting the opportunity to play League football and then finals on Adelaide Oval last season was surreal. Having had that experience now, I can’t wait to get back out there again. The Eagles missed out on finals last year but there is a strong core group here and under the guidance of Jade I’m sure we will be bouncing back strongly in 2020. I can’t wait to get started,” said Seymour.

Anyone have clues on Broadbent and Foote ?
Or any clues on other players we are chasing ?

Ok I seem to be take over the post not my intention.
However on SA Footy some people can’t make their minds up on Broadbent. Some are saying going to south some are saying coming home to the eagles . Silly season does bring the worst out in fans

Believe it's a very close race between the Eagles and Panthers for Broadbents services, a job being the decider, apparently SA's job offer is better than the Eagles at this stage, and that puts them ahead.

I guess if we can’t land Broadbent we should recruit younger guys like we have with the four players we’ve brought in . Seeing the salary cap has increased im reading that online we could get more players .

Spoke to Matty Broadbent's father Michael today, he said Matty will advise the club he chooses on either Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

Seems South might be premature on Brooksby he’s in Melbourne at the racing carnival.
Couldn’t hurt to throw an Eagle offer amongst his other thoughts of playing again !

Wimpy. would you or anyone know if the Eagles obtain a transfer fee for Broady or has he been gone too long.

Why do a lot of our former players not want to return to the club. Loyalty no longer exists.
Other clubs don't seem to have that problem

Id say salary cap has lots to do with it and in this case wasn't there employment issues involved. More players seem to be going to country leagues as well.

IMHO we should use the money for transferring Broadbent and go recruit someone younger
All going well we still have Foote ect

Very,very disappointed at not being able to secure Broadbent, we lost out on the job side of things. McDonough, Sutcliffe, Karpanny and Broadbent are recent former Eagle juniors we were not able to entice to Oval avenue.

We are entitled to at least 25 grand for Broadbents transfer.

If we could have fitted Broadbent into our salary cap, surely we can now recruit another reasonable player.

Our attendances and membership are dwindling, we must get back our former juniors and do everything possible to keep us relevant.

"Woody" you seem to be a deep thinker and close follower of the "Eagles", what are your thoughts about Broadbents defection to the panthers and possible further recruiting?

Not culture but $$$. We have a small supporter base and we struggle to balance our books. We have a great junior program, Let that be the driver. Hopefully that will make us better.

Don't think we really have trouble with dollars, we can easily afford the $410,000 salary cap. Think there are a few others that are worse off than the Eagles including the panthers.
We really have to drive hard to get our talented juniors through to league level. Over the past few years we have had some really good U18 teams.
One of our main problems is the lack of star players. No magarey medalists, no other award winners and only a few rated in the current top 50 of SANFL players. Sometimes a star player can carry the team. If Matty B. was playing for us this season he could have been in magarey medal contention. Maybe we might have to rely on being a very good TEAM.

Please guys tell me we are not negotiating with Richard Douglas
