Player rumours 2019/20
I’ve decided to start a new topic
So far I’ve been told by a south fan four eagles players will be joining south in the next two weeks. One ruck one midfielder and two tall key position players. I’m told this was going down before jade became coach .
And on talking footy a rumour is we’ve signed three players from Tassie one from north Hobart a very reasonable player . Ryhan Mansell is the tassie player from Nth Hobart

Re: Player rumours 2019/20
Rhyan Mansell is a good pick-up for the Eagles. [announced in the Tassie Examiner Newspaper last week]
For those who want some information about our new recruit.
Born 2000
Height 180 cm
Weight 70 kg
Rhyan was part of the Tasmanian state academy as well as North's Next Generation academy. He played for the Tassie Devils and in the Allies Team last year.
He is a Lounnie boy who played in the last 3 winning GF's for the Northern Bombers. He is an on-baller who also played in the Fwd pocket as well as across half back.
Here is a Scout's note from the National U/18 Championships Round 5 [last year]
Rhyan Mansell
The hard nosed defender was impressive, laying seven strong tackles. He brought a bit of aggression out there and proved very hard to beat one on one, rarely losing a contest. He didn’t have a lot of the ball only collecting five possessions but used it well. Mansell showed a little bit of spread and speed off the back flank but needs to add more of that to his game so he can be a solid contributor both defensively and offensively, not just defensively.
Further notes on Mansell come from the AFL Draft Combine:
STRENGTHS: Acceleration, tackling, defensive work, composure
IMPROVEMENTS: Endurance, accumulation
SUMMARY: The sole Tasmanian to receive a State Draft Combine invitation, Mansell is the cousin of highly touted fellow North Launceston teenager, Tarryn Thomas. Mansell’s attack on the ball is as good as anyone’s and he is a fierce tackler, averaging four per game at the National Under 18 Championships. He is a composed user of the football and has terrific acceleration off the mark (2.96 seconds in the 20m sprint) that helps him both offensively and defensively. He could continue to develop his endurance further, registering 20.5 on the Yo-yo test at the State Draft Combine, and also find more of the football.
Obviously Rhyan wants to play AFL, so he could be quite useful for WWWT. Who knows he may decide to stay with the Eagles.

He looks a lively and credentialed prospect. I see Jamieson House has returned to Launceston. Didn't make the cut.

Mansell will be relocating to Adelaide early next month ready join his new teammates for the first night of pre-season training.

Re: Player rumours 2019/20
According to 'Sheeds', there is no need for a broom, however he did say that he may bring a couple of assistant coaches with him. He is happy with both the Ressie and U18s as far as developing depth goes.
You can hear the man himself on the SANFL web site.
Cheers!

Talking to Darren Hams (under 16 coach) he is confident Kai Pudney will be at the Eagles.
Sheedy to talk to him next week.

At least e are proactive early and not like last year. We must have some top players coming through the lower ranks as well.

Re: Player rumours 2019/20
Vinnie was very emotional at presentation night, wanted to go on, got a standing ovation after one of his speeches, but that's football. For Jade Sheedy to succeed he has to be given what he wants.
I hear Damien Hill has very good hands and a good kick, had a bit of trouble finding the ball but with a couple of seasons away from league footy he might have matured. A good low key addition.

Just been announced that Broadbent has been delisted by the power, might initiate an Eagle announcement.

Broady would be perfect. I wonder what our strategy with Jimmy T will be. Seems always injured. Our salary cap must be close if we want to bring in new players.

Jimmy T had the bad ankle which was operated on but didn't rectify problem, had another op. before start of last season should be OK now.
Talking to Foote's G. Parents they said he was undecided, waiting for off chance of getting redrafted, currently on a holiday. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes back to Sydney.
Club were in discussion with Broady, the usual thing came up about wanting a job, we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Could end up at the Sharks.

Broadbent would be a good fit as Port Magpies marquee player wouldn't he? He would bleed black and white more so than blue, green and gold I imagine - even if he played at the Eagles before he got drafted. Having said that, hopefully he ends up at the Eagles. Would still have plenty to offer at SANFL level.
