Read an article a couple of weeks ago that said he will be on Triple M in the afternoon next year but will be based in Melbourne still

Re: Player rumours 2019/20
A big loss
The Woodville West Torrens Football Club wishes to advise all its members, sponsors and supporters that James Boyd will not be continuing on at the Club in 2020.
In his 6 years at Oval Avenue, James played 96 of his 206 SANFL League matches, represented his State on 3 occasions and won the 2018 Perce Johns Medal as Club Champion.
On his decision to depart James said, “The Eagles have been a massive part of my life and this is one of the harder decisions I’ve had to make. I have no doubt this group will have the success it deserves in the near future.”
CEO Luke Powell said, “We wish James all the best for the future as he moves on to the next phase of his life. James has had a wonderful decorated SANFL career that he and his family should be very proud of. To leave SANFL level as a 200 game player, premiership player and Club Champion is very special achievement. During James’s time at the Eagles he was much loved and was highly professional in his application to his football. We thank James for his outstanding service.”
In addition to the departure of James Boyd, Jack Gaffney, Cooper Gaffney, Joseph Heinjus, Isaac Moller and Xavier Redden have advised the Club that they do not wish to play at SANFL level in 2020.
On their departure’s CEO Luke Powell said, “It is disappointing to lose some quality young men from our Football Club; however, we are confident some of them return to Oval Avenue in the near future.”

Zac Milbank is saying Boyd will go to another SANFL club

Had a look at the post on talking footy, if it's as suggested, a premiership midfielder from 2014, that would narrow the field substantially.

Re: Player rumours 2019/20
Its a good Eagles topic discussion. Can it be Simon Phillips. My dumb rationale is the Myponga/Sellicks link with one of the recruits. He is an assistant at Norwood but also will play for the Mudlarks.

My guess would be either Callum Bartlett or Donohue...not sure of bartletts ability but would pass on donohue and if its phillips, he was washed up 5 years ago

Think he is pretty highly rated at The Legs, don't think they would be letting him go.

Plenty of physical contact at training so far. More ball movement focus after New Year. Players are being 'flogged' so should be fit. Full house at club on Thurs night. Sheedy spoke very well.

I have been to a few of the training sessions and been very impressed with the attitude. It's the hardest and most aggressive training I've seen at the eagles for some time. Sheedy has been pushing them very hard. In the new year he wants to spend plenty of time concentrating on setting up the style of play so he is getting them fit early. I like quite a few of the youngsters that have just finished their U18 commitments. Lachy McNeil has been very impressive and would like to see him get a league game early in the season. Others I have big hopes for are Zane Williams, Luke Barnett, Lachy Hoile and Luke Beecken. Others that are still U18 that might come in to contention for senior games (reserves) are Lachy Jones and Taj Schofield. We must encourage and develop our youngsters.

Totally with you on that last line Wimpy as well as the training plan makes sense. Last season we had 6 players drafted and only saw glimpses of these players in the league team. Our juniors are our strength.

'The players will be the fittest they have been for the past 10 years', quote from fitness people at the club.

Re: Player rumours 2019/20
We need to ask why good players decide to go elsewhere (ie James Boyd) among others recently. And many of our juniors on returning from AFL seem reluctant to return to the Eagles. Is anything wrong with the clubs culture?
Do we not what to spend any money and just be one of the clubs to make up the numbers. Sadly with the average age of supporters to be in the 60's and hardly any young members evident it would seem our future is suspect. We are falling into the old West Torrens adage, great social club, ordinary football club
