season 2019
This year only the second time club will miss the final series in 20 years. In that time playing in 8 grand finals. What will our future hold with a number of players apparently going to announce their retirements after the final game against North

Same players plus some good recruits. New Coach. Where did it all go wrong this year

Re: season 2019
Injuries haven't helped, Jimmy has missed a good chunk of the year, Tommy Gray has been missed add to that the players in and out especially during the first half of the season and the team balance is shot. Losing against Sturt at Unley was costly then the losing the 2 home games against Glenelg and Central may have sapped the confidence.

Re: season 2019
Since Boyd got injured in the warm up and Hall in the first 5 minutes of the Centrals game we have been rubbish. Its a real worry as both getting near the end. Boyd playing reserves earlier in the year was a joke and the same old plodders that try hard but not up to it are still there

Ok let’s be a bit more up beat
I know about the AFL as does everyone else
So what does everyone else think the club should and could do to improve and grow ?

Re: season 2019
I reckon the players and club used the 19th man saga as an excuse, when in reality, the last quarter and a half of that game was reflective of what the Eagles had become under Godden. In particular there were a couple of players who were publicly vocal after that game who could've and should've kicked important goals during the game instead of missing and blaming the loss on the 19th man. The start to this season reflected this.
The team needs strong and demanding leaders on the ground. It will be key for Lonergan to identify who will be the players that will be the ones that make a difference when the going gets tough. Godden went with big names who let him down time and time again in the big moments. Perhaps some of these need to be moved on? Perhaps some smart recruiting? The talent is there, but there is more to footy than talent. The Eagles showed enough in that winning streak to suggest it is a matter of fine tuning rather than a huge overhaul that is required.

Great post
I think Lonergan being there late this year hurt the club
Not Lonergan’s fault I think Godden left the club in a bit of a lurch
Starting preseason next year with Lonergan already there will be a better start .
