ok anyone got any rumours for recruits for 2013

Heard we have signed someone from North Ballarat u18's called McKenzie?? Think he is a key backman. Rumours a few weeks back that we are looking at West ruckman bonholm and Summerton from Port. Apparently also interested in Richardson from Claremont

Eagles have almost signed Andrew Ainger from south and another south player .And a westies ruckman

I have been told its ok to say Kirk is the one I was talking about !!

Will the Eagles be going after Hoban again? Featured often In Henley's Best Player list in Div 1 Amateur League. Trouble might be (dropping his chewey" when relegated to the Ressies whenever Redden comes back from the AFL.
Unless Redden improves over summer, we may be seeing more of him in 2013 than we did this year when he only played AFL because of injuries to Renouf and Lobbe. And Redden struggled against SANFL leading ruckman, let alone AFL.

If we sign Salter, like to see Grocke play CHB and play Salter up forward; Salter might get the ball only 85% as often as Grocke but with a 95% conversion rate compared to Grocke's 50%, we would do better, also utilising Grocke's vigour, dash and long kicking out of defence. Anyway, could frequently swap the two if things wern't working.

Losing Byron Sumner to the AFL will hurt us especially since we're light on with classy midfielders

? whether Growden (rover, midfielder) , Eagles U18 drafted to GWS 2 years ago will be delisted and return to us.

McKenzie's job at the Hawks and training at Box Hill would have him in a postion where he could spot some subAFL talent and chat then up about trying with the Eagles.

Have heard we are talking to a number of players at other clubs but whether they are interested or not or keen on moving is another thing:
Players i have heard - Willits, Mcreadie, Habel, Ainger and Carey (between us and North), Cross (apparently shopping himself around so unlikely)

As far as I know we have signed Kirk from the Bay & he's the only player we are interested in from there.

From discussion on SA Footy looks like we will be signing Ainger. Just have to sign a couple of quality midfielders now to be a contender again

I cant recall the names but theres a fair few on the market from the bays .And they have replaced them very quick.

The story i heard was that we told the player that will match Norths Offer and pay a little bit more. Apparently can't sign players until the end of October so hopefully will be announced then

Jaxson Barham played 7 games for Collingwood, son of Ricky Barham, 24 years of age. Rumour on safooty.net that Eagles are after him. He sounds like a fast wingman type when I would have thought that we need quick, in close midfielders of the ilk of Cross, Batsanis, Boyd, Liddle.
However, well done to the recruiters on Kirk, providing at age 29years he didn't cost the earth with only 2 years of footy left in him. Hopefully, Redden can play ruck to allow Kirk to play key CHB CHF roles.
If we do get Ainger, hopefully promising talent like Von Bertouch, Fitzgerald and Summerton can still see a future. One of them could fill a back pocket on the talls - I thought Fitzgerald looked impressive in one of the games he played in defence at Woodville late in the season in the League side. I have queries whether Culley has the closing speed or skill to play consistent defensive footy, especially rebound footy out of the backlines.

Re an earlier comment on the talent of the U18s comng up into our league team, can't see anyone from there having an impact in 2013 other than McDonough who should be drafted. Like the look of Hayes though, and maybe 2014 forsome of these lads.

I really wish the club would stay away from ex afl players. How many have stuck around and been good value???
We should look at players from other comps, I'm sure there are lots of good players who could make it in the Sanfl.eg Powell, Treeby,Colville etc.
Just cause they have played Afl, doesn't mean they will be good players in our comp.I'm sure many of them think it's easy money and don't realize the commitment required to play Sanfl.
I hope they play Kirk at CHB and sign another ruck to partner Parry.if they expect Kirk to be our 2nd ruck, we will be looking for another ruckman when Parry goes in a year or so.
Would rather 2 tough midfielders than Ainger, I think Fitzgerald can be our 3rd tall fwd.
Please no more ex Afl players.
