Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
Expect to see quite a few changes to the list next year.
We all know the coach has upset quite a few of the players with some savage comments but in my opinion they probably deserved it with some of the weak efforts that were given.
It will be interesting how the younger group react - many of them were in and out of team all year as the coach tried to juggle the best combinations but he may have overdone this with a few players.
It would not surprise me if Byron moved to Queensland with his brother - Byron has really dropped of off the pace.
Sam Heinjus has given it away due to relentless injuries.
Joe Sinor is being pursued by at least Glenelg but he should emerge as a regular league player next season - he did not take his chances this year but he is not far away.
I look forward to the new leadership model we put together for next season, it really has to be the start of a new era for the Eagles.

here, here - culture has turned to shit - some players have become bigger than the club - big changes needed, but cant see it happening with current coach

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
Maybe we have been stuck in the old model of leadership for a while.
The coach needs to turn it around and freshen things up a bit - I think we have a good coach but he needs to make a few changes to the current system which is not delivering results.

How about an attacking game plan ie as in what the seconds play
How about playing two ruckman
how about a decent tall backman to help the likes of Templeton and Guff
I'm still angry of just making the finals and going out in straight sets how many years do we need to do that!!
End of rant

How about picking up some delisted AFL Port Adelaide magpie players seeing they are now zoned in the Eagles area

Premiers wrote:Time for Recruiting Rumours thread again. Probably the most interesting posts for we hopeful supporters, relief from the the pathetic whining of supporters once reality hits during the season.
To get things started:
Nick Hayes Eagles player delisted from Brisbane Bears rookie list. 188cm Forward played in our 2013 U18 Premiership side. Strong overhead but also plays midfield. Could he be the "Westbrook, Inkster" medium forward that we've lacked for 5 years?
Yes, we acknowledge that just because a player comes off an AFL list, doesn't translate into success - the Eagles have had a couple return lately who've failed.
Also no certainty that he would return to the Eagles, being a free agent after delisting. But is it Nick's brother who is presently playing U18s so hopefully brotherly love "draws" him back to Eagles.
Expect Nick Salter will stay a second season at Ainslie which will just about see him out.
But Josh Growden, the delisted GWS player who tried out for GridIron selection. ? whether he's a chance to return.
Fingers crossed that Thurlow, the Queensland 198cm State Ruckman that the Eagles came very close to getting last year will be delisted from Essendon's rookie list.
? whether there will be any good pickings from Port Magpie U18s after they have gone through them with a fine tooth comb, now that the Magpie U18s are defunct for 2015.
Bare minimum target should be: one classy big ruckman, 4 quick midfielders (2 having some size).
Two ruckman even better. Mullins in the Seconds, with his height, shows some potential but still 2 years away. ? whether Mick Godden can woo McGinty from the Bays?
Silly season but go for it.

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
I suggest we get in Bruggemans' ear, being a former junior and giving him a second chance....seeing as he made way for the mobile stobie pole today after playing every match for the Power reserves this year.

Agree Spelly. Wonder if he only had a 1 year contract? May have cost them the game that decision.

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
I am hearing disturbing news about one of our favourites...pretty keen on leaving as he has fallen out with the coach. He was at the GF yesterday with the team but is very disenchanted.

Also meant to add we have a very, very skinny recruiting budget.

Strinliing. Great. Cheap drugs for all! Which I was surprised. Oh yer, and we get to pay south a fortune for him too! Could not be any worse than Ainger I suppose

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
Correct me but my understanding is that Stribling left South 2 years ago. Like all clubs,South may have kept him on their list for at least 1 year, possibly 2 to stop him going to another club before dropping him off when it seemed evident he wasn't going to come back to SANFL and was excluding another player from that list. Therefore, doesn't he come free of transfer costs.
Googling his performances for East Gambier for 2014 season and reads that he had a very good season. Also, you would expect he was on a pretty good salary down there so Eagles would have to beat that. Was in South's top 3 players before he left them.

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
Ash Duncan, age 26 years, halfback and midfielder, played for NT Thunder last year and did OK. Written up as having played 100 games over 7 years for Centrals Reserves and League, can't remember him so ? mostly reserves.. Hopefully, he can provide pace which we so badly need.
Noticed that ex Eagle ex Central player Seb Guilhaus was his teammate at NT Thunder.

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
Stribling left south half-way through last (2013) season, so will still be on their books until halfway through 2015 season. had a very good 2012 - advertiser team of year, but pretty poor 2013 and bad 2014 - will still cost a lot transfer wise

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
left in 2014 after getting arrested in Nhill with Guy O'Keefe in possession of bags amounts of ecstasy tablets and large sums of money - after we've spent the year questioning the culture that our recent recruits have bought to the club - surely this is just a bad, silly-season joke?
