Interested to know how many non-Sth Australians we had in our last premiership side that Goddsy largely inherited? Can someone do the numbers?
Rimmo, Treebs, Flash, Thommo, Macca, Powell, Parry.
Grocke, Lewis, Day, Grieger, & Parry from other clubs.
Tiller & Raymond also but they had come back from Melbourne.
Goldy, Hall, Staple, Allmond, Cicca, Rowntree, Toumpas were the other 7.

Would have been lucky to play finals withput those imports. I can't for the life off understand Goddems approach. Certainly not working.

again with this QLD guy would be nice if we actually head something from the club according to the sanfl online
Woodville-West Torrens remain hopeful of securing delisted Adelaide pair Jared Petrenko and Luke Thompson after they were unable to secure AFL opportunities.
Both players have previously expressed their desire to continue their careers at Oval Avenue if they missed out in both AFL Drafts.
The Eagles are also on the verge of signing a ruckman who was delisted by an AFL club at the end of this season

just posted under confirmed ins
Thompson, 23, joins the Club on a permanent basis after being aligned with the Eagles whilst on the Adelaide Crows List for the past 5 years in which he played 20 AFL games and 80 SANFL games (68 for the Eagles and 12 for the Adelaide Reserves team). Thompson has been a premier defender when playing in the SANFL over the past few years and will fill a key defensive post in Season 2015.
Senior Coach Michael Godden said “We think Luke is a little unlucky not to still be on an AFL list so to have him at the Eagles full time will be fantastic. He’s built some very strong relationships with the players and staff here at the Eagles since moving over from Victoria so it will be a very smooth transition. He’s an exceptional person and a quality player who not only demands a lot from himself but also his team mates so he’s going to be very valuable for us.”
Thurlow, 21, joins the Club after spending 2014 on Essendon’s Rookie List. Originally from Queensland, Thurlow is a strongly built ruckman at 199cm and 102kg. Prior to 2014 Thurlow represented Queensland at State U18 level and was also selected in the U23 NEAFL State Team that took on SA in 2013.
Michael Godden said “Fraser is still only 21 and that’s relatively young in terms of a ruckman’s development but he’s extremely motivated and clear on what he wants to achieve. He had the chance to play against some quality ruckman last year through the NAB Cup and VFL season and acquitted himself very well. At nearly 200cm he’s a really good size and has great mobility so we think he can have a real impact for us this year.”
Football Manager Trent Hentschel said “To add Nick Hayes, Aseri Raikiwasa, Luke Thompson and Fraser Thurlow to our existing squad is really exciting. We’ve also had 12 players move up into the senior squad from last year’s U18’s so from a playing list point of view we feel we are in really good shape”.
Please join the WWTFC in welcoming Luke and Fraser to the Club.

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
Good pickups. We definitely needed a ruckman cost us big time last year. Sounds like he was injured most of last year but seemed to hold his own against AFL listed ruckmen in the games he did play. The only decent ruckman i saw last year in the SANFL got rookie listed so think he will do fine

I think he will lead the rucks...borholm seems more suited to a forward role and helping out in the ruck

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
Any thoughts on Petrenko? Chasing the dollar? Or you think he'll get on board with the Eags?
He'd be getting some offers you'd think (like Salter did last year).

Thurlow is a HUGE signing! Assuming he has got over his injuries.
Fills the No 1 ruck position and will give our midfielders a boost with a better look at the ball. "Paul Lindsay" like.

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
Early days but our squad looks pretty good, some excellent recruiting. We obviously still have a need for speed, I hope some of our juniors can fill this role. I believe Hayes is pencilled onto a wing, interesting that Poole finished the year on a wing in the reserves and went pretty well albeit would not call him fast. If Thurlow goes ok I look forward to Bomber playing a pinch hit forward role as well. North, Norwood and Sturt have recruited pretty well so we will need to improve 30% on last years efforts to make top 3.

Re: player retirements and rumoured movements
Ben Cavarra - plenty of info available via Google
? how we can fit him in under the Salary Cap but, if we do get him, excellent! And well done to the recruiters. After signing Petrenko, I reckon we were still one midfielder down - with Lewis, Boyd, Petrenko, Rowntree, with Nick Hayes yet to show whether he can Take on SANFL midfielders after learning the role for the first time last year in NEAFL.
Cavarra, 174 cm, looks a genuine classy young rover.
