South Australians that get drafted from SANFL clubs are not reimbursed on the basis of numbers drafted from the club.
What happens now is that the total reimbursement for all Sth Aussies drafted goes in to a pool and is divided equally between the eight SANFL clubs, this has been happening for a few years now. The new formula has most probably robbed the Eagles of a large amount of compensation as we have provided a significant amount of draftees. What it also leads to is lazy clubs getting payments they don't really deserve for not producing draftees.

It appears SA and the Bays would be fuming as well of recent. WA seems to be hit continually. It must hurt them as they struggle to get off the bottom and each good kid gets ripped away for next to zilch. The SANFL have made compromise after compromise for the worse.
Jason Horne-Francis in a free market would be worth a fortune.
What's different and annoying in the Welsh   move is that it pre-Draft.

Re the Welsh matter, get over it, fellas !!  Whinging is not going to change anything. Just accept that as a feeder competition to the big boys, we have to expect that all rules will be bent toward making the AFL a better product. If you love to beat yourself up over such matters, turn your attention to the upcoming drafts where we may lose Beecken and Beattie.

"premiers" we are not whinging about Welsh going to the Crows a year early. What most are upset about is way things are done. There are changes just about every year to the detriment of SANFL clubs. The SANFL clubs seem to get bulldozed all the time by the AFL and the weak insipid SANFL never fight back. Supporters like to see the evolvement of their good juniors and get some joy of their achievements at SANFL level before they go to the AFL ie Matt Pavlich and Lachy Jones.
It's not that I'm upset at not seeing Welsh play at the league level for the Eagles as I don't think he would be good enough yet to make the league team, but the way all these changes are implemented.

Whilst I was correct in saying that Jack didn't sign with Port District, I wasn't aware that he had signed with Seaton Ramblers for 2024, his original club.
Must have changed his mind just prior to pre season training.
I also believe Jonte Hunter-Price has been told by Sam that his services are no longer required.
Maybe players with hyphenated surnames don't work at our club ....

On a separate note, South have been decimated with player losses this off season with 8 of their Round 18 team not going on in 2024.
Some real quality amongst that 8 too, with the recent losses of Haines and Heaslip hitting hard.
I read a CEO article on their website last night and they've had an intensive post season review conducted with Mark Bickley heading up this review.
I don't think the review worked.

Jonte quit after the crows game at AO he's been playing back at Wallaroo since then. I heard from a players dad that he quit that's why Menta was playing in the ruck

Correct Eagles35, but Jonte's intention was always to have another crack with us in 2024.
He found the demands of full time work and SANFL challenging to say the least.

I thought they've been training already as my brother has met the new midfield coach and he mentioned about training with my brother. The midfield coach doesn't know me in person and i don't know his surname but know his first name only and details about him

Goddsy she is a blessing when you need to know info . Players all grades I believe are friendly to her . She is a nice person

The  midfield coach was playing in under 17's about 20 years ago  for Eagles he's from Ardrossan and he used to be either reserves coach or involved with westies reserves

No worries about Charlie West quitting - he loves his footy and loves the Eagles. Like a lot of U18s, his Yr 12 studies ( 3 hours/ night study), State Team commitments and his College football commitments might greatly limit his time in an Eagles outfit next year (school holidays, pre and post school season OK).
Early days, but Charlie shows promise of being useful, especially as a strongly built 194cm key forward with skills.

The highlights reel will be working overtime in 2024 with these 3 dynamos on the loose!

2023 Eagles Club Champion James Rowe, Best Team Man Zac Buck, and Best First Year Player Max Beattie will be rampant all over the ground for our Football Club once again in 2024.

Three Eagles Juniors that have developed into major cogs of our Football Club…

2021 Premiership player Luke Beecken jumped leaps and bounds in 2023, taking 3rd place in our Club Champion, while Will Pearce made his presence felt up forward with his booming left foot. Zane Williams added extra bows to his game down back, but still looms as a dangerous forward option for coach Sam Jacobs in 2024.

All three have put pen to paper for next year, and we can’t wait to see where their next level of development takes them.

Max Litser and Jack Wheare are playing on. Max told me he was when asking same as Jack
