Rumored ins and outs 2011

Good news about Trent - interesting how they're going to plan his season with some weeks off to get him through; perhaps we can even time his absences with the occasional game from Nick Salter - I'm not convinced that Nick will hold his place in the Power backline for the whole season but I hope he succeeds because he's done it the hard way. With Hentschell, Grocke as talls and Chris Hall and Rimington as useful smalls, as well as our resting run-on types like Ciccollela and Treeby and our forward line is taking shape - just need one more dominant 193cm "tall".

"Mark Dolling" rumour appears to have fizzled out - too good to be true.

The thing with Todd Culley is the club wants him to put on more muscle and when he is doing that he is loosing some of his speed so depending on the pre-season they have planned for him may depend on when and if he comes into the league side

Re Todd Culley, he's certainly bulked up - a mini Greg Phillips!. He's been regularly working out with weights with Treeby throughout the last 18 months
As a younger player, he had sufficient speed for a 190cm so hope he hasn't slowed. Has football skills, nous and is focussed.

Talk about focus or lack of it, what's the situation with Mitch Banner next season - he seems disinterested in the Eagles and the Eagles, in turn, seem to ignore him. Is he seeking a clearance?

No idea if we are chasing him or not .But a source says a disgruntled bay player who went home down the mount way last year .Will be playing in the SANFL at the same club as the mouse .

Tommy Holmes no doubt. Mt Gambier boy. At 21 -22 years of age, a quick skilful rover, put in some very good performances as the Bays No 2 rover and at 19 was considered an AFL draft prospect. Would cost a bit unless the Bays have dropped him off their active list when he would be FREE. (He was an Eagles supporter when attending Prince Alfred College).

Yep thats the guy Premiers .He was described to me today by my south adelaide work mate as a young backwell .

I mentioned that Tom Holmes should have been him a target last year for the Eagles for the 2010 season but he would have definitely been kept on the Bays active list for last season even though he wasn't going to play for them - so this year he may be easier to get. Godden would have had a lot to do with him as Seconds coach before he starred in his league debut.

Yes, it would be disappointing if North won him. He's the quick, skilful rover that the Eagles have lacked since 2006. Good around goals, good in tight but also carrys the ball. And at age 21 years, very good value, unlike Backwell at 31. let's hope North gets Backwell and we take Holmes.
Hentschell, McGregor, Kite and Holmes would be a pretty good recruiting result.

If you've seen the SAFooty eqivalent thread, we have signed Phil Raymond. Got no idea on what type of player he is, myself, so I'll put it out to you guys.

Won Port Melbournes most consistent player in 2010 must be a pretty decent player. Just looking around on the net described as a 6ft athletic forward

Give you another case in point mickyj - you can pass this on; I know he'll reply with another "know it all, I'm right" comment, which if why I don't bother with that shit - but you can be damn well sure if McGregor did sign with us for next season, Dutchy would have been still smug with the fact we signed a slow "old" player who would most likely be injured half the time.

Oh, and we would have to pay "a lot of money for him" too. That comment gets used a lot.

Good luck to Ken McGregor in his first coaching stint for Glenelg (except when they play the Eagles!). Best decision - he was always going to struggle with his lack of pace. Still need a 193cm go-to forward to complement Grocke and Hentschel (especially if he's only there 70% part time).
That, plus a earth-scorcher pacy rover will top off our recruiting quite nicely. (with Kite, Raymond, Hentschell, maybe Chris Hall)
