Ronnie Fuller, Shane Reardon, Mark Jefferies and Terry Hutton - a lot of coaching [Eagles]experience there. If they can't improve the Panthers, who can??

I heard a whisper that - after winning a Flag at Henley - some time off with his mates at the World Cup, that one Ken McGregor is interested in a return to the nest. (to be playing @ full forward.) I hope this is true!!

Ken looked awfully slow in his final few games for the Eagles in 2009 - wouldn't like him to come back and embarrass himself. Sticky fingers when he goes for an overhead mark (feet planted on the ground with the ball on top of him) but very slow on a lead and too slow for CHB.
Still, let's see him show form in the trials.
With Cicollela, Welsh Hentschell (and Biglands}, last year Eagles were looking as the oldest SANFL list. Having cleared a few out, we don't want to hold up the development of any young forward by bringing in an over 30year-old unless he's a certain match-winner.

Hope it's true would be a huge bonus - it may convince Trent to go on next year as well would be an imposing forward line

Heard the same thing about Kenny. From a source within the club. Not a done deal yet, but it's close.

I have heard a rumor re Backwell its us or north depending on $$$$

I hope we don't get Backwell - no doubt Glenelg will price as much as they can to clear him; and you can tell what the response will be from other clubs fans. Add to that, his asking rate will be above what he can offer to the club anyway.

Hentschel is only 27; and I don't think our list was that old - not unless if you were looking at Souths' list for comparison!

Spoke with Davies at the Club tonight and I got the feeling that the Club was not interested in Backwell.

He did say that we could expect confirmation of all coaching positions (Reserves, U/18 and U/16) and potentially player signings next week.

Said we had some good players wanting to come back and some wanting to come in from interstate.

Can't remember much about Aaron Kite when he was playing for Norwood but if he's signed, a very good pick-up at 190cm and quick. We've lacked leg speed over the last few years but in the latter part of 2010 with Polec and Smith teaming with regulars Jarrad and Thompson taking on the opposition in the finals, we looked good. Now losing Smith off the HB line, Aaron Kite's speed (and skill) may cover that. Need another pacy on-baller to cover Polec's loss.

I saw the trial at Thebarton when Christian Grocke did his knee (?2008). Was very impressive and hope he gives if another crack - most Eagles fans only saw him trying to make a comeback in the Seconds and he struggled but going from his pre- injury form, he's as quick as Adam, as tall but physically beefier, not as strong overhead but has a real presence - could play CHB CHF FF BP

Looking at the Seconds in 2010, do you see any player who might have a break - out year in 2011? For mine, I reckon Culley may emerge towards the latter part of the season, again contesting for CHB (if Luke Thompson gets Crows promoted/injured? What do other fans think?

Todd Culley got better as the year went on, Nathan Rayner should continue to improve after a solid year in the twos which led to him getting a game in the prelim, Aaron Killian played some good games down back during the year also. Some of the young blokes from the 18's has some solid performances in the 2's during the year but think most of them will be scattered all around the countryside by the years end.

Re Christian Grocke
It was Saturday March 17th 2007 trial game against Sturt at Thebby.
The only reason I remember it so clearly is I was at my niece's wedding & I was receiving updates of the game from Thebby. Then the text came through re Christian damaging his knee.
Earlier this year 'Flash' posted on this forum that he was interested in having another go at league footy.
Will be interesting to see if he gets an invite to preseason.

Culley will play League Football this year, I think he is destined to be our CHB in years to come.

i like the look of some of the under 18's down back.son of JC looks very very good IMHO.

ANOTHER chapter will be written in Trent Hentschel's football story with the retired Adelaide Crow set to play on with Woodville-West Torrens next year.

Though he had been keen to continue, Hentschel had feared bone damage in his troublesome right knee - badly injured while playing for the Crows in 2006 - would not allow the knee to hold up to another year of football and force him to hang up the boots.

But the 27-year-old forward has been given the all-clear to play in the SANFL by his long-time surgeon, Richard Clarnette.

The Eagles' football department will manage Hentschel throughout next year and rotate him out of the side some weeks.

Hentschel was thrilled to play on.

"It's more excitement (than relief) at being able to play a bit more footy, playing down at the Eagles where I have a lot of fun," he said.

"It's pretty unrealistic that I'll ever get a full season out of my knee so we'll sit down and map out a bit of a plan how to go about the season."

Eagles coach Michael Godden said Hentschel was an important part of the side.

"One thing about Trent, and I don't think a lot of people know this, is he's got a lot of knowledge about how he views the game of footy and can develop some of our youth," he said. "He's a guy that's been around (football) for a while ... and on top of that he's a great player.

"Any time you have at your disposal such a quality player you'd want to do everything you can to make sure he's playing.

"With Welshy (ex-Crow and Western Bulldog Scott Welsh) retiring we've got some young men that we're developing but they're not quite ready yet, so to have more forward or back depth is really important."

Hentschel returned to Woodville-West Torrens in August after his retirement from the AFL.

He kicked six goals in six games for the Eagles this year.
