Best wishes to the Coach for the last four years, with 2 Premierships!!!
Hopefully the boys will respond in the best way possible for the rest of the season.
Good point. Building companies falling over everywhere. He did mention a while bad that mixing the 2 was a big effort.
At least we can search the leagues for someone suitable.

Re: THE 2023 SEASON
Maybe Shannon Hurn would make a good coach for us. Straight from one Eagles to another. South Australian too! Thought provoking and maybe worth pursuing.

Re: THE 2023 SEASON
Went and watched the Under 18's defeat Strut last night.
What a pleasant experience it was; seeing our future league premiership players running around. Certainly didn't see any "wheels falling off".
Callum Fairall, although slightly built, has real speed and ball finding ability as evidenced by his 36 touches. Has tasted Reserves football this year as have several other players in the team like Brody Mair. Zac Schwarz also moves well and young Niemann can take a strong mark. We have a strong future and our under age program is integral to that.

Re: THE 2023 SEASON
Not the most appropriate thread/topic but I see J Hayes listed on St Kilda’s 8 man interchange bench.

Not sure, but wasnt Olsen head honcho of SANFL in the 19th man year? If so, then the Karma bus was a bit slow but has hit him/Crows. All froth and bubble, but fair recompense to the hurt club.

Yes he was, along with the other one who couldn't make a decision - Jake Parkinson.
SANFL wanted the Cheats in the Grand Final rather than us, no doubt about it.

Pretty sure that Jake is an Eagles man, would have been a very awkward situation for him.

He paraded himself around as an Eagles man at the 2011 Chimney unveiling but then went missing in action when we needed his support in 2018. He is now CEO of Big Shed Brewing and I can honestly say I haven't been back there since he's been in charge, and won't. Rather support the Eagles Club wherever possible anyway.

Re: THE 2023 SEASON
I doubt whether Jake could give two hoots whether or not you go to the Big Shed Brewing. He is probably happy that you don't. Another critical post on another supporter, seems to be a trend with The Barton Spend all your money at the Eagles club, for sure. No problem with that, every thing helpsThe Barton wrote:Columbo wrote:The Barton wrote:whybother wrote:Not sure, but wasnt Olsen head honcho of SANFL in the 19th man year? Re: THE 2023 SEASON
Been home sick today and was a bit bored so had a look over our results for the season.
End result 6 wins & 12 losses
The 6 wins were by 46, 24, 56, 3, 11 and 22
The losses are interesting
3 were by more than 6 goals - 48, 36 and 69
7 were by less than 3 goals - 11, 16, 17, 18, 15, 15 & 6
The other 2 were by 22 and 23
Of those 7 losses
The 11 point game was at Noarlunga where we lost Thommo and Dane McFarlane before half time so were down 2 rotations. We led at qtr time by 16, were outscored 5.0 to 0.1 in the 2nd and then broke even for the remainder 3.3 to 3.1
The 16 point game was at Prospect, a game we seemed to be not out of all day but at the same time didn't seem to threaten.
The 17 point game was at Elizabeth in probably the worst conditions of the year, they kicked 3.2 to 0.0 in the 3rd and then we held them scoreless in the last quarter but only kicked 1.1.
The 18 point game was the week after at home against South, we were 27 down at 3QT and kicked 1.6 to 0.3 in the last quarter.
The first 15 point game was at Unley, we led at 3QT and had a poor last quarter kicking 1.0 to their 4.5, they went inside 50 20 - 2 from memory.
The second 15 point game was North at Woodville, we lead by 14 points at half time and had a poor 2nd half conceding 10.3 (6.1 & 4.2) and kicking 5.4 (2.1 & 3.3)
As for the 6 point game, again we led at 3 QT but conceded a goal just prior to the break then the 3.1 in the first 7 min of the last.
End result 6 wins & 12 losses

Re: THE 2023 SEASON
Good summary of our season Columbo.
With additional development of our youth next year we should be in the mix for finals again. And nice new change rooms

Just into the achieves. The last 2 minutes in 2011. Hair ripping stuff. A young-looking Thompson in there.

Re: THE 2023 SEASON
I have just noticed that three Eagles boys have been chosen to play in the futures match just before the AFL Grand Final. Best of luck (no pun intended) to Tom Luck, Kade Herbert and Tyler Welsh.

Good luck (ditto pun) yo those boys. But I am a bit sad that they are drawing attention to AFL scavengers.

Re: THE 2023 SEASON
I see Mitch Hardie hasn't been cut from Geelong as yet but at the same time is un-contracted so there's still a chance we might see him back at Oval Avenue next year. Tsitas in the same boat with GCS.

Think Hardie more so than Tsitis, who seems to be settled in Qld with wife, baby and house

Re: THE 2023 SEASON
Saw Jordan Foote on Instragram recently, looks like he's playing in the NSW/ACT competition again. Still looks super fit, would love him back with us but it's not gunna happen. I'll just keep watching his second quarter of the 2020 GF against the Cheats instead.
