Dobber wrote:What's with the news a couple of our highly paid recruits may have got in some serious trouble in town recently? Surely we have not paid mega bucks at the expense of our hard working local kids to have our clubs name dragged through the mud? Especially when one of them arrived with a history police intervention when socializing!
I read that on another forum our club wasn't mentioned when I saw it ! why not ask tomorrow night

Re: rumor thread for 2014
Wundke and Ainger to be our alls up forward. Grocke to play CHB.
We are too top heavy with Wundke,Ainger and Grocke
It makes sense for Grocke to play key defence he as down it in the past with North

The only thing being, if Grocke gets back to what he was circa 2011 (which is doubtful), he would easily be the best forward out of those three.

Re: rumor thread for 2014
Not top heavy. Both Grocke and Wundke are both good off the ground. Key is whether Grocke's injury restricts him, otherwise expect him to alternate between CHF and Forward Pocket with Ainger, keeping defenders second guessing. Grocke at full speed is as quick as any flanker going round.
Re Ainger - criticism is that he doesn't take overhead marks, preferring to chest them and gets spoilt on many occasions plus his lack of body strength. However, I understand he took to Aussie Rules late in his teenage years, is still developing and has been getting better each year, so go easy on him.

Re: rumor thread for 2014
Saw on safooty that we've signed Lachlan McGregor, ex Glenelg player who played for Langhorne Creek the last 3 seasons. Only info could get on him was that he was Best Player in Langhornes 2011 Grand Final win and kicked 5 goals. Article read that he was playing "out of the centre" in last quarter.
? anyone have any stats on him? Height? Weight? Age? Position played? Attributes- ?pace ?strength ?kicking ability.
Vague memory that he was a quick, small midfielder but could be way out.

Re: rumor thread for 2014
OK - so we're guaranteeing $40, plus $400 a game to a 'developing' player who lacks strength and can't mark, while our local kids who do everything right, plus for minimum match payments! No wonder we have so many guys leaving the club!
At least he's a good drinker I suppose

I think with our big 3 firing up forward the eagles may well be a formidable side !!Premiers wrote:Not top heavy. Both Grocke and Wundke are both good off the ground. Rubbish.
We've signed the State Centre Half Forward, who kicked 55 goals in his first season with the Club, is only about 24 years of age and is getting better. Sure he's got to hold his ground and clunk the overhead marks that we expect from a 197cm player and hopefully that will come - hell, then he may be kicking 75 goals rather than 55 goals !!. I'm a critic of some aspects of his play like how he scores most of his goals in the first quarters then goes quiet when the opposition put the screws on him. But very glad the club got him rather than stuffing around with VFL or ex-AFL forwards like a few other Clubs have done and failed. We bought an instant SANFL footballer rather than a maybe.
There still would have been a place for Zac Fitzgerald had he wanted to stay. The fact that the Club is trying to sign an ex-Eagles U18 from the Balaklava League, Bruggeman (a big CHF) is proof of that.

Re: rumor thread for 2014
Not changing my mind we are too top heavy with Wundke,Ainger and Grocke up forward.
We are undersized down back and that's why Grocke should play back.
Jacob Templeton the recruit from Centrals to me isn't good enough to play a key position.
I would play him from a back pocket

My sources tell me the ex bay player (we are supposed to have recruited and he wasn't mentioned on the members night) is a small forward dwarf size my source said !! Hopefully that helps the tall issue up forward

Sometimes, and other times we pay a big transfer for them, they do numerous clangers in a few leagues games, then go to walllaroo the next year.

True and they mainly are Victorians!! Some of the players we recruit from other SANFL clubs the transfer fees are far less than what people believe . I can not back that up of course .

Re: rumor thread for 2014
Believe we are in the mix for ex Glenelg Key defender Riley Milne who was cut by the bays this week due to salary cap issues. I'm told that Milne lives with a current Eagles player

Re: rumor thread for 2014
He played a couple of AFL Games for Hawthorn. Struggled last year at the bay. Maybe a change of club will help him. We do lack height in defence and he has played mostly as a key defender
