Re: Eagles v Norwood Maughan Thiem Kia oval 29 May
Went to training last night and saw Troy Menzel running laps with his left arm in a cast. Was told he had a broken wrist and would miss 6 weeks. Would think Jesse Lonergan would also miss this week after being injured early in last weekends match.
With the announcement of Knight now nominating for the mid season draft it was a very disappointing day. Feel sorry for the coach who lost eight to the draft and could lose at least a possible two more to the mid season draft. Along with injuries his patience must be severely tested. Cooper Sharman could be a replacement for Troy Menzel or Goldy could move forward and Pudney go to the wing.

You could write a novel on the brothers injuries.
Jack Firns must be in the mix. How did he go last weekend.

Firns just average, like the rest of the reserves.goddy11 wrote:wimpy wrote:Went to training last night and saw Troy Menzel running laps with his left arm in a cast. SANFL preview
By PETER CORNWALL
This clash for a top-three spot has ‘match of the round’ written all over it. The Eagles could hardly have sent out a clearer warning how deadly serious they are about their premiership defence the way they dispensed with West by 100 points.
You don’t often see maulings of that magnitude these days. Norwood, on the other hand, has been going quietly about its business, winning its past three, including overwhelming the Crows by 6.12 at its last start.
If the Legs had kicked straight it could have been a thumping of the Eagles’ magnitude. Spectacular 18-year-old forward Jackson Callow grabbed 11 marks, including seven contested, but didn’t make the most of his opportunities, finishing with 3.7.
Eagle Daniel Menzel had one less shot at goal against West but booted five goals. The numbers were big in the Eagles’ huge win but none bigger than those of Jimmy Toumpas, who had a field day with 24 kicks and 21 handballs, while ball magnet James Tsitas had 38 touches and seven clearances. The Legs will be making sure they don’t get as much of the ball in this big clash.

West is back in the reserves. Once fit he will take over from Redden. The big guy is only a plodder unfortunately these days. Still dominant in ruck but nothing around the ground.

I’m happy with the two wins today
Not sure what happened in the first and our goal kicking wasn’t on though
But a win is a win

We have them in 2 weeks. Should not be allowed in 2 weeks time.

Loved Sharman's game. After a very nervous game against the magpies a few weeks ago he showed his potential today, could be a champ for us for a long time.

Yeah the rules states cant line up against your state league team unless agreed by both parties...the port morons on bigfooty r talking about taking the best players from SANFL for the magpies...couldnt think of anything more depressing than playing for that mickey mouse club

Re: Eagles v Norwood Maughan Thiem Kia oval 29 May
First live game I’ve seen for a while today. Beautiful conditions at Woodville Oval!
The team looks well balanced now. I like what Clay Cameron offers at CHB. Almost like having another Luke Thompson - they move quite similar. I also really liked the look of Sharman. Started shaky but improved as the game went on. Has good hands, a good athlete with a good vertical leap and good kick for goal by the look of it.
Would be really disappointing to lose players to the mid-season draft. If there is a rule that they can’t play against us (eg if Port pick Knight) then we should absolutely enforce that rule. It is ridiculous that Port are even in our competition but that’s for another day.
Good win against Norwood. Even if we lose Knight and Stengle, we are still well placed. Goldsworthy is still playing great footy and Toumpas could easily move back on ball. Mutch looks a good player as well. There is depth.

I believe he’s allowed to play four games only for them

Sanfl snapshot by Zac Milbank
Woodville-West Torrens overcame a slow start to record a comfortable 47-point win against Norwood at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.
Managing just one goal in the first term, the Eagles began to turn the match on its head in the second stanza with four majors while keeping the visitors to just two behinds.
The hosts then made the most of their inside 50 advantage to kick seven goals to two after the main change, ensuring they would bank their third win in four matches.
Premiership hero Angus Poole kicked three goals along with former Crow Tyson Stengle, who also impressed with 22 disposals, five marks and three tackles.
Eagles ball magnet James Tsitas had 33 disposals and six clearances while another former Crow, Riley Knight, continued his impressive form with 27 touches, 10 marks and a goal.
Norwood’s Richard Douglas finished with 29 disposals, eight marks and a goal while emerging youngster Henry Nelligan accumulated 25 possessions, seven marks and a major.

Re: Eagles v Norwood Maughan Thiem Kia oval 29 May
It was good to finally see a team with only one change, T. Menzel out and Cooper Sharman in. It gives the coach a chance to finally settle a team and get some continuity.
Jade Rawlings and players came back to the club for a drink after the game and were very gracious, Rawlings gave a speech and even announced Norwood's best player. It was a great touch.
