Second question is an interesting one...Salts may go up if Paul Stewart is ruled out after a pretty heavy hit last night, Port seem to see him suited more to the backline than forward, Knighta is probably needed by the crows but may need another week to get some match fitness.

Reckon we will lose Knights for sure and may hang on to Salter. I think Port will elevate Moore to replace Stewart or Surjan and probably include Motlop and Gray if fit.Thought Trengrove was ordinary which may result in Salter getting a gig.

I wasn't convinced with knights form .But seeing last year the crows took Burton back after a shocking game at unley anything can happen.

Yes I agree with your thoughts but given the Crows current form, Knights' performance on the weekend should make him a certainty to get a call up.

I think Redden will replace Hoban.
Dawson will probably only come in if we lose Salter to the Power and Welsh is still injured. The other forwards didn't do much wrong to warrant them going back to the reserves.
I would think the only other changes could be Hicks and Rowntree out - most likely to be replaced with Allmond and Rimington.

The long range forcast for next weekend is looking like it could be damp, might not be a day for the big guys, rimmo or corbett may find their way back to the 1's and Miles and or Hilly may get a run in the ruck when Guilhaus is resting.

Re: Eagles vs Norwood fortress Woodville
According to todays Advertiser Welsh & McKenzie will play Saturday.
God's has been quoted as saying 'if we had played Port on Sunday Welsh would have played'.
Team selection this week should be interesting.

Re: Eagles vs Norwood fortress Woodville
Wouldn't be surprised to see one of the ruckmen drop out (esp if wet) and miles ruck again. This would put Hill to CHB which is fine with me.
Wouldn't hurt for Hoops to play a few in the 2's and get the pace and feel for footy. It was his first real game of footy (cant count trials).
Welsh for Salter, I hope not, fingers crossed Power don't pick him....I know I'm being selfish. Thou Power are trying to turn him into a backman. If he played SANFL all year he would have to be a chance for leading goalkicker.
Maybe a few other changes, Maca and maybe Rimmo in????
Interesting to see how God views the players performances and who gets a game this week.

Re: Eagles vs Norwood fortress Woodville
Looking forward to this one, Norwood have been really humiliated in recent weeks by being absolutely thrashed by the Bays then being beaten by South at home. Woodville isn't called the House of Pain for no reason and I think that Norwood are in for their fair share of it this time around, the Basset verses Godden duel should be pretty interesting to go along with it as well, Basset was out coached last week, will be interesting to see how he responds this week with a plan b or lack of.

Re: Eagles vs Norwood fortress Woodville
Great to see Paddy Guiffreda named in ressies, first time in 12 months.
Hope all goes well he deserves another chance. Believe me, he has put in all the hard yards at training. Good luck Paddy.
No, I'm not related but I have seen the work he's been doing.

Yes well done Paddy after that goal umpiring gig at the second internal trial .you deserve to be playing
Was nice to see only Wright as an injured player this week.
Seems everything that sparkles at Fortress Woodville comes up as Gold Jumpers

Re: Eagles vs Norwood fortress Woodville
I'm interested to see how Welsh performs in his first game, and also how he and Salter operate in the same forward line.
In recent history we've had the Passador/Schwarze and Passador/Salter combinations - from memory these haven't been too successful in comparison to when only one of the players has been in the team.

Godden interview
EAGLES coach Michael Godden says he's ``comfortable'' going into Saturday's round three match against Norwood with only one recognised ruckman.
Former 36ers basketballer Peter Hoban, who made his debut against the Magpies last weekend, has been dropped, leaving Seb Guilhaus to carry the ruck.
``We've got two guys in there playing key positions who we can use in ruck a fair bit, in (Stuart) Hill and (Todd) Miles,'' Godden said.
``We're very comfortable with that, even if we lost him (Guilhaus), we've got enough cover for that. This week, in particular, we need more run.''
Godden said he was pleased with the progress of 205cm Hoban, 23, who has almost no football background.
``I was really happy with what he did (against Port), he's just got to learn more of the game.
``It's horses for courses really. I felt that against (James) Meiklejohn and (Cameron) Cloke, we needed two genuine ruckman, and I think with Scotty Welsh back now we'll be able to use an extra tall as another ruckman.
``We don't need to carry in the second recognised ruckman. It's a week by week thing.''
He said he expected a big improvement from eight-gamer Guilhaus and wasn't planning to rush former South ruckman Craig Parry into the side.
``He'll be back in probably round five or six. He's back training fully now. I won't be in any great rush.
``We've got a couple of guys there who can ruck, we've got Jarrad Redden in the twos.
``Seb can do a lot more than he did last week. I thought he had an average one on Saturday, to be honest.
``He's better than that so I've no doubt he'll respond very well this weekend.''

Re: Eagles vs Norwood fortress Woodville
Well I am going to be honest here. What a shocking game of footy actually 2 games.
Both the seconds and the league were shocking/boring/uninspired to watch .
Not certain if we were that bad or the legs were worse .And I suspect the game style of Norwood is to blame .Rather slow and boring IMHO.But it slowed the eagles down enough to cause the eagles some concern.
Half time I wasn't certain whether to shot myself hang myself from the roof or just jump off the grandstand.Certain I am not alone there .
3/4 time I got told Kim Hodgeman went off in the huddle not certain if "gods" did.
BUT the moves of Cica and Macca onto the ball and Miles starting in the ruck helped pave the win.
Other thoughts
Welsh needed the run perhaps he should have played two's.But his first goal seemed to lift the club.
Salter was down but did some outstanding ball work in the fourth.
Goldsworthy is developing well.
Luke Jarrad tried hard
Lewis got the ball really easy but gave it up with bad skill errors.
At least the Eagles won!!
But sheesssh boring game
