200 out of a possible 207 games for Luke Jarrad this week. Amazing effort.
We also haven't beaten Centrals twice in the 1 season since 2006. So another challenge ahead of us.

EAGLES
Star Woodville-West Torrens midfielder James Boyd will miss Saturday’s contest against Central at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval.
Boyd, who injured himself last Saturday against Adelaide, will miss between two and four weeks while recovering from the ailment.
‘’We’ve just got to wait and see how it (Boyd’s injury) responds to treatment,’’ Eagles coach Michael Godden said.
‘’He hasn’t torn it (the muscle) but he’s certainly done some damage. The Best case scenario is that he will play against Sturt (in Round 13).’’
Running defender Phil Raymond returns from a significant thumb injury while flexible utilities Joe Sinor and Sam Rowland have been added to the Eagles’ extended interchange bench.
Dual premiership star Luke Jarrad will play his 200th SANFL match while triple Ken Farmer Medallist Michael Wundke will line up for the 100th time at league level.

Marc Borholm's 50th SANFL game too... Full of milestones this weekend.
Another win is all we really want though.

Intriguing is the battle for the 5th mid fielder's position. Rowntree, Petrenko, Boyd and Lewis are the 4 "professionals". Hayes, Poole and Hall pinch-hit through the midfield but spend a lot of time forward or wing. But the regular 5th midfielder was Schwarz till injured. Now there appears to be good healthy competition between Appleton, Schwarz, Rowland and Sinor for that 5th spot which hopefully will bring out the best of them.

And Hayes gets a run as well

Assuming we don't meet Central in the finals somehow, that is another box ticked off - the first time we have been undefeated against them in a season since 1999.
Goldsworthys' smother of a ball which was headed to two unmarked Dogs players in the third quarter; then which the turnover resulted in a goal to us was fantastic. He did that last week, effected a smother on a Crows player which was heading towards an unmarked player. Petrenko had a brilliant match today.

Now we need the Crows and Glenelg to win tomorrow, but there isn't much hope of that seeing as teams in the bottom 4 at the moment have had a 1-25-1 record against the top 6 so far

I'd give Crows half a chance.
Glenelg no chance.

Not an Appleton fan, murders the simple pass to an open player.
Batley must be under pressure to hold his spot, was out of the team, but Raymond broke his thumb at a Friday night training so he was recalled. Schwarz on his performance yesterday must be a chance to be recalled and Rowland has earned an opportunity.

Did our boys stop in the second term or did they not follow the game plan .
Third term when they appeared to follow the plan it worked . Ainger being one player who had three players on him . They moved after the ball he stayedin the sqaure or in front of it . result unmarked tall marks kicks goal!!
Well done Eagles
Well done seconds 11 straight wins

Re: Eagles V Centrals Maughan Thiem Hyundaui oval june27
MICHAEL Godden emerged from a behind-closed-doors meeting with his Woodville-West Torrens players, after a hard-fought victory over Central District, a content coach.
To absorb a serious challenge from the Bulldogs at Woodville Oval before putting a gap on the scoreboard for a 32-point win - and the club's ninth successive triumph - satisfied Godden.
The premiership coach claimed the pressure from the Bulldogs was the toughest the Eagles had confronted this season and he heaped praise on his players for the performance.
The win also enabled veteran Luke Jarrad to celebrate his 200th SANFL league appearance in style, as well as Michael Wundke's 100th.
"I rate the Dogs, always have,'' Godden said. "I rate their coach and club, they fight and if they lose this year it has not been by much.
"We knew we were in for a real battle and this game was a really good challenge for the playing group. Both clubs were at it in the first half and in the second we were up and at it in the contested footy.
"To finish with a 32-point win, I'm really proud of them.''
The Bulldogs conceded the first four goals before fighting back to trail by just six points at quarter time. Scores were level half-time, with the Dogs’ final two goals for the second quarter reward for tackling pressure in attack.
Turnovers hurt the Bulldogs and they were punished on the scoreboard after half-time as the Eagles pounced on stray kicks and handballs.
Guilty of a swag of mistakes in the second term when the Bulldogs created confusion with their defensive tactics, the Eagles used the ball more effectively after the main break to grab the ascendency.
Classy Jared Petrenko was among the Eagles having a significant influence and providing sparking run, while Andrew Ainger bagged three goals in the third quarter as the most damaging forward.
Bulldogs coach Roy Laird was pleased with his side's endeavour but he lamented the inability to maintain pressure for longer than 10-minute patches.
"We had strong sustained periods of good effort, our tackling numbers showed we were here to play,'' Laird said. "But it was in 10 minute blocks.
"The Eagles are a good team and in good form. We took it up to them but we have got to do it for longer.
"In the third quarter we'd miss a (target with a ) kick and we have got to be better.''
EAGLES 4.1 5.2 11.4 13.7 (85)
CENTRAL DISTRICT 3.1 5.2 7.2 8.5 (53)
BEST - Eagles: Petrenko, Allmond, Ainger, Jarrad, Martyn, Lewis. Central: Thomas, Jansen, Habel, Goodrem, Potter, Stephenson.
GOALS - Eagles: Ainger 5, McGregor 3, Martyn, Raikiwasa 2, Wundke. Central: Retzlaff 3, Goodrem 2, Thomas, Hoskin, Hanna.
UMPIRES - Cook, Lewis, Fleer.

Now 3-25-1, thank you Tigers! We can be top for a least a week; this will be our biggest challenge for some time at Richmond this week.spell_check wrote:Now we need the Crows and Glenelg to win tomorrow, but there isn't much hope of that seeing as teams in the bottom 4 at the moment have had a 1-25-1 record against the top 6 so far

Hey spelly, On the subject of wins, heard the radio guys mention the win loss record against centrals prior to the game. Do you have a breakdown of those numbers from 1991-2000 2001-2010 and 2011 to now?

Re: Eagles V Centrals Maughan Thiem Hyundaui oval june27
The nine zip streak the Eagles are currently on sometimes tends to mask small problems. Winning teams generally don't make changes unless injuries occur. I would like to see some changes made to keep all players on their toes. In my opinion there are about 4-5 players vying for 2 positions and any of the 4-5 would be quite capable of playing in these positions. I think its time for a couple of changes.
