Although it's not really a like for like, if Petrenko is fine, he would come in for Jarrad...don't know about anyone else who would be out. In fact, if Petrenko doesn't come up, Batley is more like Jarrad.

EAGLES
Woodville-West Torrens will be boosted by the return of star midfielder Jared Petrenko for the match against Central at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval on Sunday.
A late withdrawal last Saturday after injuring his back in the warm-up, Petrenko has been named on a four-man extended interchange bench to face the Bulldogs.
The former Crow has been joined in the 22-man squad by potential debutant Ethan Haylock, the son of Eagles great Gary Haylock, who played 204 matches for Woodville and the Eagles between 1984 and 1994.
Originally from PHOS Camden, Ethan Haylock – who measures in at 177cm and 75kg – has progressed through the junior grades at Oval Avenue.
Dual premiership player Luke Jarrad will miss his first IGA League match since Round 16, 2012 after suffering a slight hamstring strain against Norwood last Saturday.
The Eagles will be looking to put in a strong performance as they host several past premiership players for their Premiers Day, which will chiefly honour the 2006 League premiership team.

I mentioned last year on this site, how we had a good player Kyle Broadwood in the U18s, and then was dismayed when we gave him a clearance to Centrals at the start of the season.

At 197cm, a mobile backman, he is in Centrals squad of 22 to play us on Sunday. Surely our Club must have seen the great potential this young player had and hopefully, there were extenuating circumstances to explain why we let him go. Keeping him and not signing Cameron Giles (similar players, Broadwood younger) may have been cheaper - that's not to say that, having lost Broadwood, Cameron Giles will be handy (if he ever gets on the field). Does anyone know the story on how we lost Broadwood?

The last time we won all four quarters of a match was the corresponding match last year.  A few more four quarter wins (and at least one 20 goal score) and I think we stand a better chance to win the flag this year than last year.  Also, some more big victories...West Adelaide last year were able to have some big wins (6 wins 50+), whereas we could only get just the one for the whole season (the Norwood match), despite winning 17.

Well, we didn't get the 4 quarter win, but today is the kind of the other points I mean about being a real contender for the flag.  I didn't think it would be against Centrals though!  In keeping with the 2006 theme, Central haven't had a bigger loss than that since Rd 3 2006 (95 pts against Glenelg)

Great debut by Ethan. He was everywhere. Hopefully the start of a long career. Another good small into the club. Where are all the 6'5" key forwards.? I am worried A Ainger is not getting into the game as much as he would like. At least he takes out a key defender. Also best all round game from big Wundke. He was running all around the ground. Some good defensive work.
Another bye coming up. Hard to keep up momentum. Hopefully we came out of the game with no injuries.

We looked tired in the third term but certainly not tired in the fourth

Great win by the boys yesterday but the highlight for me was catching up with the 2006 premiership boys at the after match presentation.
Thanks to the interstate boys who made the trip over.

Agree. Ethan Haylock had a big debut game - not blessed with muscle or blistering pace, he has excellent footy smarts, positions himself well, reads the play well (like his ol' man) and runs. Good to see Godden playing a few youngsters now - Gaffney, Haylock, Woods and (earlier) Yarrin because, over the past season, we kept recycling the same 2-3 slightly older players. And our Premiership opportunity clock is ticking with one of the more mature teams going around.

Also agree with your point about key forwards and Andrew Ainger. Be good to have an option in the Seconds putting pressure on him to bring out his best. Jack Hayes has talent and is developing but looks 1 season off - Jack's a little slow for his present 193cm physique but as he bulks up in the future, his strong overhead marking will compensate. Maybe Cameron Giles, if he can get back in 6 weeks time, can fill that role.

"Slow for a small player", "no physical presence, nor tackling skills", "goes missing in big games". All these comments have been used on Hall's performances over the years but what an amazing season he has had - even at his age, would win "Most Improved" trophy by a mile.

Would be good to see Ainger kick a few more goals but at times yesterday he had 2 or 3 defenders hanging off him. Loved Wundke's game yesterday, big target, strong hands, threw his weight around and that pace around the ground ;-)

Broadwood lives in the northern areas, went to Ports as a development player, came to Eagles in 2015 after leaving Ports but due to distance etc. went to Centrals. Liked the way he played in the U18's last year, very athletic, sad to see him go.

At one stage Hall was the major possession winner
Hayes in the seconds i like number 32 actually all 3 have impressed so far plus two younger brothers

That's not the point. Broadwood is just a kid (? 18 years old) and he'll have plenty of years ahead to hurt us. At one stage he was standing Ainger, not a bad vote of confidence in him from Roy Laird.
Nothing much we can do about distance - could have also had another good Centrals footballer, "Scuff" Hanna's son, but of course he lived out at Gawler somewhere, all of his mates played for Centrals and had no desire to come to the Eagles under the Father-Son rule. ? whether we got any compensation for Broadwood.

A common theme throughout our Seconds (except for Mullins now with Sturt), U18s and U16s, for the past 5 seasons, has been the undersized ruckmen that we have had to field, and that's not being critical of their fantastic efforts. But in the 3-4 U16s and U18s that I've seen and Seconds, our ruckmen are consisyently at least 4 cm shorter. You would think that these things would go in cycles but it's a pretty long cycle. Do other Clubs go head -hunting the junior teams in their zone for these tall players or is it something in the water! !X?@!

I cant argue with you premiers
No idea of the answer but that could be a minus in the old port zone . Having said that i used to work with the son of a south footballer he was living in our area now part of glenelgs zone . Would not come to us went down south guess im saying it can go both ways .
Under 16 good thing to bring up number 50 in the seconds side was not the player named in the budget but number 43 younger brother of gafney i understand both from the port zone under 16 in our seconds isnt that a plus .
I'm told three sons of a port player are in our junior sides once again an upside.

Ruckman were u standing near us we were talking about Rucks the one that left would have been in the seconds. but we got Redden back while having two in the league and you can see Bomber is benefiting from it . Guess at some stage we gotta go and recruit a ruckman younger than what we have at present ,
I cant think of any other way to do it
