be away overseas for the next 6 weeks but I wish the boys well. This Saturdays game will be tough. There are many Crows players back.

From a very hot Rome (33C) and jetlagged. 5 on the bench. Must be someone else injured. We never come out of the bye without injuries. Resting Redden a good move. Will be needed September. The Crows have named the strongest side all season.

Jared Petrenko and Angus Poole will share a very special milestone this Sunday at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval as they both run out for their 100th Macca’s League Match against Adelaide. However the journey for both of these Eagles stars in getting to this milestone is quite the opposite.

Jared, originally from Portland Football Club in the Eagles metro zone, was a highly rated Eagles junior playing his first league match as a 17 year old in 2007. Jared was then drafted to Adelaide as a defender in the 2008 rookie draft where he would play 76 games predominately as a small forward. When Jared was delisted prematurely at the end of the 2014 season, he had no hesitation in returning to Oval Avenue where he has become one of the premier midfielders of the SANFL. General Manager of Football Luke Powell said, “It is a credit to Jared as a person the way he has returned to the Club and not only performed at a high level but also in driving the strong Eagles family culture.”

Angus, originally from Kadina Football Club in the Eagles country zone, also came through the Eagles junior programs progressing to the senior squad in 2011. A regular midfield spot was hard to come by with the likes of Luke Powell, Justin Cicollela, Scott Lewis and Angus Rowntree running through there which meant Angus was forced to work on his game in the Reserves where he performed strongly, winning the 2012 Reserves Magarey Medal. Angus’ breakthrough season in the league came in 2013 where he played 14 games and he hasn’t looked back with his hard attack on the ball setting the standard for the team. Senior Coach Michael Godden said, “Angus’ hard work and dedication to get the most out of himself as a player is a credit to him and he is a great role model for the younger players. He is a great Club man and the sort of person all Club’s need.”

Congratulations to both players on reaching

Woodville-West Torrens remain in the hunt for the minor premiership after blitzing Adelaide by 45 points at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval.

In front of a crowd in excess of 5000 on the Eagles’ Carnival Day, the hosts built their 11th victory of the season on the back of a decisive period through the second and third terms in which they kicked 13.8 to the Crows’ 2.4.

Importantly, the two premiership points kept Michael Godden’s men within three of Norwood with two minor round matches to play before finals begin.

To earn the first week off and gain direct entry into the second semi-final by finishing on top, the Eagles must win their final two contests and hope the Redlegs drop at least one in the lead up to September.

Despite several of the key statistic categories indicating the Eagles were in early control of the encounter, the scoreboard suggested otherwise as they trailed the Crows by five points at quarter time.

It wasn’t until the home side – with Jared Petrenko and Angus Poole celebrating their 100-game milestones – rattled on 6.5 while holding the visitors to just one behind in the second stanza, that they took a deserved 35-point break into half-time.

Eagles forward Nick Hayes bounced back into form with 20 disposals and three goals, the second of which coming after he was found on his own 15m out on a 45C angle.

Just a minute later, his co-captain Luke Thompson displayed his side’s desperation by saving a certain goal when he lunged at a perfect pass to Crow Myles Poholke to cause a spoil which spilt over for a rushed behind.

Less than 50 seconds later, Eagle Jake Johansen ran into an open goal after shrugging off a tackle from Elliott Himmelberg to stretch the margin to 28 points.

The passage of play illustrated how strong the Eagles were performing at both ends of the ground to ensure the Crows couldn’t work their way into the match.

It only got easier for the Eagles during the third term, with a beautiful coast-to-coast goal earned with some superb foot passing as Johansen booted his third in the goal square.

Bustling Louis Sharrad then finished the term in handsome fashion as he kicked a tight set shot goal from 45m out on the boundary line as the siren sounded for three quarter time.

Sharrad was one over several industrious Eagles throughout the afternoon, with the two 100-gamers in Poole and Petrenko collecting 48 disposals between them while using the ball in constructive fashion.

For Petrenko, it was arguably his best performance at Macca’s League level this season after having the first half of the year wiped out by his involvement in Channel 7 program House Rules while also suffering multiple injury setbacks.

The Crows finished the game in positive fashion to comfortably outscore the hosts 4.2 to 1.0 in the fourth quarter but it was too little, too late for Ryan O’Keefe’s men.

Defender Jake Kelly and forward Mitch McGovern had contrasting performances in their rare appearances in the SANFL, with Kelly shaded only by consistent midfielder Pat Wilson (28 disposals) as his team’s highest possession winner with 26.

McGovern kicked an early goal 11 minutes into the first term with a clever snap in traffic over his shoulder but was rarely sighted until he booted his second in the sixth minute of the fourth period.

EAGLES 2.2 8.7 15.10 16.10 (106)

ADELAIDE 3.1 3.2 5.5 9.7 (61)

LEADING DISPOSALS – Eagles: Boyd 30, Poole 26, Lewis 23, Petrenko 22, Stewart 21, N. Hayes, Rowland 20, Thompson 19, Sinor 18.

Adelaide: Wilson 28, Kelly 26, Signorello 24, Poholke 23, Gibson 21, Edwards 17, Fogarty, Boyle 16.

GOALS – Eagles: N. Hayes, Johansen 3, Borholm, Sharrad, Lewis 2, Boyd, Rowe, Petrenko, Rowland.

Adelaide: Poholke, McGovern, Himmelberg 2, Edwards, Hadden, Hunter.

Not much being said about yesterday's  game .
Was interesting to notice the forwadline midfield changes to cope with the height differences with the crows.
After the first quarter Eagles worked smarter lots of shorter passes and handballs. First saw the Eagles kick the ball to many times to the crows back men.
Great seeing Rowe improving over the year .

Was a bit worrying early on but the ball movement in the 2nd and 3rd was up there with the game at Prospect.
Nick Hayes was great in the middle, Bomber up forward probably the big guy we have missed since Ainger and Wundke, took a few good grabs but probably split a few packs too that got the likes of Rowe and Johansen involved.
