Re: Eagles V Adelaide 20th june
I thought that first 1 1/2 quarters was top shelf footy, I think the players really went out there on a mission. However, that one thing I like to call full time vs part time fitness shone out in the last half.
Having said that, Rowntree had to be our best today. His goal in the last quarter (which brought up a career best for a single match) steadied the ship. We missed him last year and is doing alright so far this year.
That's another box ticked (last team to defeat the Crows) to go with the Power reserves and also the hoodoo at Elizabeth. In saying that, we simply need to keep that first half footy going all game next week as the Dogs will be up and about after this week.
And not to mention it will be the 200th match for Luke Jarrad.

Phil Walsh sat just behind me in the Percy Fox. It was great listening to him barrack and support - showed a lot of feeling for his boys. Every now and then he would throw out a comment just to bait the Eagle supporters. There were plenty of Crows players in the stand and were showing ggggrrreat interest in the Carlton Vs power match!!!!!
A great day considering the Eagles WON.

Re: Eagles V Adelaide 20th june
I think the two factors of the turn around . Losing Boyd and the fact after half time the Eagles didnt play like they did in the first half.
First half they blocked spaces .And entering the forward line they did it Hawthorn like short kicks in the 50 . Seemed to be off putting for the Crows !!
After half time this changed at least the eagles won
Third hoodoo broken this year

Re: Eagles V Adelaide 20th june
If we positive, 8 out of 9 wins is a top shelf achievement for mid-season.
If we look for a slightly negative view-point, yesterday's first half of 11 goals was the first free flowing scoring since Rd 3 - our defensive game has been excellent and we have been winning with low scores in matches where (due to low scoring) opposition have been in with a "sniff" at/around 3 Q time. North at Prospect were in control for 15 mins(end of 3Q/start of 4Q) but didn't take their chances. Likewise Glenelg and Sturt and of course the Crows yesterday. Could easily have been 3 more losses.
So despite our lofty position on the premiership table and even our good percentage, we only need to drop off 5% or a little luck goes opposition's way and the ledger changes.
But hey! Boys ARE winning at present and there's still plenty of upside to come such as Thurlow, Hayes and Poole steadily improving, achieved yesterday's win without Thompson, Raymond, Schwarz and (2nd half) Boyd.

Also missing was Whittlesea who played four very good games before he was injured.
Have been very impressed with the improvement in Whittlesea and Dunstan's games.
