craig parry retires
The WWTFC can confirm that Craig Parry has announced his retirement.
In a superb career spanning 12 years from 2002 to 2013, Craig’s ability to not only influence games with his physical nature but also his finesse in the ruck has seen him dominate the SANFL for the best part of a decade.
Parry joined the Eagles in 2010 after stints with Port Adelaide and South Adelaide where he played 30 and 64 games respectively.
His list of achievements is testament to his standing within the SANFL. They include;
179 SANFL Games
Premiership Player in 2011
Jack Oatey Medallist in 2011
6 time SA State Representative. (2006,2008,2009,2012,2013)
On his decision to retire Parry said “My time at the Eagles is one that I’ll look back on with great enjoyment and pride. The Club has a culture and environment that has developed me into not only a better footballer but also a better person. Although it was shattering to be eliminated from the finals this year like we were, I think the Club is in a really strong position moving forward. There is a great nucleus of players between the ages of 20 and 24 that will ensure the Club continues to be there at the business end of the year.”
Parry added “I’d like to thank the Club, its Members and Supporters for the enormous amount of support I have received in my 4 years here. I would also like to thank my family for all their support and the sacrifices they have made over my career.”
Coach Michael Godden said “Craig has had a significant impact on the Club over his 4 years here. His ability to perform in big games and drag team mates along with him has been outstanding. As a coach he’s everything you want in a ruckman, he’s aggressive, demanding, and also consistently gives our midfielders first look at the ball with his tap work. His approach to his footy not only on the field but also the work he’s done with our younger players has been fantastic. He’s a player that team mates love to run out alongside on game day.”
Please join the Club in congratulating Craig on an outstanding career
