Re: Eagles v Bulldogs June 8 Maughan Thiem Kia oval
Any thoughts on starting lineup. I see Lukac , Neumann, Bruce in the 2's.

Half time. When Rowe is tagged like today and against Glenelg, we struggle. Another quiet day for Luke McKay; have other teams worked him out after early press? Our undersized forwards Buck. Nicholls, Rowe ( when resting), Beattie etc is not being helped by poor entries. Williams ,in particular, too much air time for long kicks. Better players - Ballenden, Thompson, Daloia.
Need a huge lift to win 2nd half. Lift Eagles !!!!!!!!

Williams and Firns best for me. Knights serviceable. Rowey uses ball well when he gets it.Headfan wrote:Anything from Williams, Knight, Pearce, Beattie etc?

Both sides struggling into the forward lines. Lots of intercepts.

For Headfan in Denmark, 3Qtime
Hung on to a few points lead but Centrals looking far more fluent attacking from rangy backline. Rowe did some nice goal setups that Q but 13 disposals to 3Q time is poor by his standards; needs more help from Knight and especially McKay.

We lost by 6p. Williams had easy 2 chances to win it and fluffed them.

Sounds like we couldn’t lift in the last quarter.
We need to fight out these close finishes.
Very disappointing.
Was the problem with centre clearances or did the backline fail?

Thanks Goddsy11 and Premiers.
Still feeling deflated to go down by 6 points.
Either we all play well and win, or not everyone contributes and we go down by a small margain. Need to start turning this around.

Frustrating for sure, both times we played them. Williams and Mc Kay missing sitters really so trying to find some positives. I felt Central moved the ball the length of the ground very easily several times and our backs did well without midfield support.
Each week the intensity needs to be there as it was last week but Central to their credit brought it to more contests today. Still we are in the mix and some tidying up will keep us there

That McKay miss a shocker and it cost us because the dogs went coast to coast to make the lead bigger.

Re: Eagles v Bulldogs June 8 Maughan Thiem Kia oval
For Headfan in Denmark,
Not good enough. As predicted, Centrals fluency from backlines allowed coast- to- coast goals. And yet, Williams could have snatched it with 2 dreadful kicks for goal in the last 4 mins. Don't get me wrong. Ballenden took some good grabs up forward but no other forward overhead threats but slow chipping going forward. Now that we've lost Beecken, it's important that Morris and McKay can get ball in hand for long decisive entries .Still look to be lacking a genuine small backpocket on the opposition goal crumbers/rovers
Now .to move on to a "mustwin" against the Crows.

Good wrap up you guys. I suppose it’s still early days and there’s time to consolidate. Sauce needs to pick the bones out of today’s game and some of the boys need to listen and lift next week.
Oh well.

Re: Eagles v Bulldogs June 8 Maughan Thiem Kia oval
Use 2024 to hopefully create some depth for 2025. Wheare was tried today. Good move even if he didn't feature; have to give him another week in the League team - showed some poise and good decisions on the very few times he won possession. While MacFarlane is gathering some fitness in the Seconds, is Hanson due for a try. Noticed Neuman's and Barkla's form has dipped lately. But we've got to find some kids within our club (since our better U18s may go in the draft).

Weckert, Pearce, Beattie, Buck - stats look pathetic.
And the top stats player Williams not kicking well and McKay’s dominance gone missing.
Seems Knight not playing well.
We need Sinor back.
Too much reliance on too few - Ballenden, d’Alioa, Thompson, Redden.

Re: Eagles v Bulldogs June 8 Maughan Thiem Kia oval
You take the good with the bad with Williams. Yes his kicks have airtime, he's 'one sided' with his inability to kick left foot and that last shot at goal dribble rather a drop punt was a shocker. But overall he played a good game for us and he is much improved from earlier in the season. Don't forget Centrals missed a similar shot for goal in the second I think so it kind of cancels out.
MacKay the big worry. Even when we were winning the last few weeks he has been missing. I wonder whether he is injured. He just looks very, very slow and can't get across the ground.
Firns close to our best player I thought because he played 4 good quarters rather than starring in a half. Redden very good.
Weckert's stats were shocking but his opponent played very well. It's not helping with our terrible entries into the forward 50 which are either scrubber kicks or chips that have too much air and easy to spoil. Beecken and Goldy are the other players we had who could deliver low flat passes and they both gone.
Hann and Beattie need to be sent to the reserves. I'd like to see Hanson and Macfarlane come in both of whom have been playing well over the last four weeks.
