Reserves & Under 16's
Reserves Elimination Final Vs Glenelg
Prospect Oval 11am Saturday.
It's been an interesting year for the 2's. Won 9, Lost 9 and ended up with exactly 50% (1122 for and against)
Of those 9 losses 7 were against West (3) and Sturt (4), the others were against Glenelg at the Bay and South last weekend.
Against Sturt the first game at Unley was a shocker where we scored just 1.5, in the last 3 games played in Round 14, 17 & 18 the losses were by 12, 20 and 12.
Against West the first game was also a heavy loss but consecutive games in Round 6 & 7 were 11 point losses before a 13 point win in Round 12.
At their best they have played some exciting footy during the year and had we not had to play 8 games against 2 of the top 3 sides would likely have secured the double chance but its the way the draw is in an 8 team competition, hopefully they can get a win on Saturday against last years reserves premiers.

Interesting reading Columbo, thanks for the summary.
Do we know the eligibility rules for SANFL Reserves Finals where the League team is not part of Finals action?
I believe Will Pearce will be playing this week, as will Mitch Duval.
Not sure whether someone like Clay Cameron will be eligible though?
Thinking Ryan Bruce would also qualify for Reserves unless the fact he played the last 4 or so in the League works against him.
If it was the Power or Crows I'm sure the rules would be changed to suit themselves but we don't have that clout unfortunately.

Re: Reserves & Under 16's
Heard Ryan Bruce is eligible.
Of the last nine games, Clay Cameron has played one league game, one reserves game and has been injured for seven, I would think that would make him eligible for the reserves finals. Unsure if he would be given an option or not to play.

Re: Reserves & Under 16's
The rules around eligibility for the reserves finals can be a bit complex, i think there have been times where players have had to sit out the first week if they played league in the last game of the minor round.

Re: Reserves & Under 16's
I phoned a friend and I believe the rules are that if a player has played 5 or more League games, then they must play the last 3 in the Reserves to qualify. Therefore Mitch Duval qualifies (15 & last 3 in B’s), Ryan Bruce qualifies (only played 4 League), Clay Cameron qualifies (4 in the league). Means Will Pearce doesn’t qualify as he played 8 games in the League (could haven been 9…). Should also have Studham back in the B’s. Riley Knight has a grade 2 Hamstring strain and would have been out for 4 to 6 weeks.

Believe he badly sprained an ankle on a Friday night training a fortnight ago.
Most probably getting ready for the AFL combine.

Re: Reserves & Under 16's
He had a pretty good reputation but seeing he is so injury prone he has been of liitle benefit and we might as well let him go (where he'll probably become a star)wimpy wrote:The Barton wrote:Clay Cameron injured again.......

Re: Reserves & Under 16's
Cameron reminds me a bit of Tiller, in that he’s definitely League standard, played well in a Premiership, but has hardly been able to contribute otherwise because of injury. But, a premiership is a premiership!

Great first half by our boys. Really turned on. Like Conner's and Pudney's game. Pity D'Aloia will not be with us next year.

Re: Reserves & Under 16's
Thought Prospect might suit our game today, we played well there in Round 16.
Glenelg won 6 of their 9 games at home on the smaller ground which they play very well.
First half was as good as any footy the 2's have played all year, kicking 5 into the breeze in the first quarter after conceding the first after 47 seconds really set the game up and then to back it up with another 5 in the second was excellent. The 3rd quarter was a bit suspect at times but the breeze was much stronger out on the ground than it seemed in the stand and to hold them to 1.3 in the last 16 mins of the quarter after 3 goals in the first 10 was a good effort. Last quarter was a bit of a fizzer but Jay Watson's mark and goal were a highlight.
Hopefully the boys can back it up next week against Westies, most likely at Unley it would seem.
Good to see Lachie Jones at the game today too.

Re: Reserves & Under 16's
Good report "Columbo". The first half was outstanding for it's skill and pace.
The plan of playing as many of the 2021 U18 premiership team in the reserves this season I think has payed off well. Although it might take awhile, there might be some league talent there. Development is the key. Also when possible, promoting current U18s will benefit in the long run. Unsure who might be available next week, but Mead, Cameron, Phillipou and Weckert would help. Unfortunately due to circumstances we were a tall back man and a ruck short.

Is Seb Guilhaus injured or unavailable and would Jesse Lonergan be eligible if fit

I think Seb did a 100m spit of the dummy. I reckon by far he over estimated his worth/value to the club.
