Chris Hall departs
Eagles press release
The Woodville West Torrens Football Club wishes to advise all its members, sponsors and supporters that long standing servant Chris Hall’s time at the Club has come to an end.
A Flinders Park junior, Chris started his journey at the Eagles way back in 2006 in the Under 17’s team quickly progressing to League football debuting in Round 6 2008 against Sturt at Thebarton Oval as a 17-year-old. After a strong 2008 campaign Chris was drafted to Fremantle with pick 77.
After a two-year stint at Fremantle Chris returned to Oval avenue playing in the 2011 Premiership in his first season back at the Club. Over the next decade Chris developed into one of the premier wingmen in the competition tallying 183 matches and 129 goals in that time.
On his decision to depart Chris said, “I’ll be forever grateful for the opportunities the Eagles football club has provided me with. I’ve been lucky enough to play with some champion footballers over the last decade but what I will hold dearest to my heart are the friendships I’ve been able to make with the players, coach’s, support staff and fans. I’m going to miss walking into the club every night more than anything and would like to thank the entire Eagles family for the last 13 years of my life.”
CEO Luke Powell said, “We congratulate Chris on an outstanding career with the Eagles. To see a Chris rise from an Eagles junior, to be drafted by Fremantle and to come back and have such a significant career at League level culminating in 183 games and becoming a premiership player has been wonderful to witness.
Chris’s football exploits has always seen him as a club and fan favourite, but I think more importantly his biggest impression and mark that he will leave that he has been an exceptional teammate both on and off the field. Chris and the Hall family have had a wonderful association with the Eagles Football Club and we believe that will continue to be the case for the future.
We thank Chris for his wonderful contribution at the Eagles and wish him all the best with his endeavours in the next chapter.”
The Club also wishes to advise that Louis Sharrad and Tom Gray will also not be continuing at the Club in 2021. Both Louis & Tom were recruited to the Club from Port Adelaide at the end of 2017. Over the past three seasons Louis played 38 games for the Club whilst Tom played 19 games with a bad run of injuries restricting his time on the field.
On their departure CEO Luke Powell said, “Louis and Tom are both great characters who are much loved by the playing group and have had great contributions to the Club in such a short time. We wish both Louis and Tom all the best for their future endeavours.”

Re: Chris Hall departs
Seems strange to me seeing all three were presented with their guernseys at the preseason launch at Woodville Oval on Sunday March 21st What has happened in just 3 weeks to have this eventuate, not sure it was just the players decisions

They most probably asked the coaching group what their chances were of getting an "A" grade game and were given an answer that wasn't very positive for them. As much as we appreciated them at the club, realistically they will not be a part of the club's future. The club must come first and for the Eagles to remain a top club there must be turnover of players. Openings, encouragement and a pathway must be shown to juniors. I was a little shocked at Hally's departure but it shows the coach to be hard and focussed.

Slightly different on SA Footy a Centrals fan saying two more players will be heading to the NEAFL in the next two weeks .
I thought the NEAFL was defunct
But could we get rid of two more players ?

I don't think the other poster meant NEAFL, to me it sounded like a NE South Australian league.

Re: Chris Hall departs
We play them next week. Chris will play. Will Stengle play for us?
Crows welcome respected Eagle into fold
ANDREW CAPEL
PREMIERSHIP Eagle Chris Hall has reunited with his flag coach Michael Godden and joined Adelaide’s SANFL team.
Mutually departing Woodville-West Torrens this week after playing 183 games and kicking 129 goals in two stints at the club from 2008-20, the 30-year-old wingman has been named in the Crows side to play West Adelaide at Richmond Oval tomorrow.
“Chris was looking for another opportunity and with where we’re at (with injuries) at the moment, he’ll be really valuable,’’ said Godden, who was in charge at Oval Avenue when Hall played in the Eagles’ 2011 premiership side.
“I loved coaching Hally at the Eagles and he’ll be very good in helping the 10-to-15 guys we have who haven’t played a lot of league footy.
“We encouraged Chris to continue at the Eagles, but he wants to play league footy and we need players like him.’’
Hall was drafted from the Eagles by Fremantle at pick 77 in 2008, but he failed to play an AFL game in two years there.
Woodville-West Torrens chief executive Luke Powell said the decision to let Hall go was tough, but was made in the best interests of both parties as he currently was not in the club’s best 22.
“Chris’ football exploits have always seen him be a club and fan favourite, but, more importantly, his biggest impression that he will leave has been as an exceptional teammate, both on and off the field,’’ Powell said.
“We thank him for his wonderful contribution to the Eagles and wish him all the best with his endeavours in his next chapter.”
The Eagles, who won last year’s premiership and beat Sturt in Round 1, have also cut ties with former Port Adelaide pair Louis Sharrad and Tom Gray.
