Re: Eagles v Adelaide
The Eagles may have said to him that because season preparations are near the "pointy end", they don't want to waste a spot in the A Grade trial until he has committed to them. No problem with that. Gives Tyson some space to think things through.

Might already be serving his four match AFL suspension. I believe it will relate to four Crows matches.

Re: Eagles v Adelaide
Tyson Stengle is an Eagle. Will be playing for the Eagles this season or maybe part of the season depending if he gets picked up mid-season. The club has done a lot of work with him and he will be on a traineeship at the Eagles.

Re: Eagles v Adelaide
Tyson Stengle has signed with SANFL club Woodville-West Torrens.
Eagles football director David Couzner, who runs a recruitment agency, and chief executive Luke Powell have overseen a program in conjunction with two of Stengle’s key mentors, former Adelaide teammate and current Carlton small forward Eddie Betts and his wife Anna, to set up a strong support network around him.
“We are trying to build a productive daily structure for Tyson, involving football, work and daily life, creating a path of responsibilities for him,’’ Couzner said.
“He still hopes to play AFL again but our prime focus is on setting himself up for life after footy.’’
Stengle was this week cut by the Crows with two years left on his contract after three on-field indiscretions in eight months last year.
He has been training with the Eagles after being stood down by Adelaide, which has reached a financial settlement with him, in December. Stengle has already played two trial games with Woodville-West Torrens – a reserves match against North Adelaide and a league game against Glenelg.
It is uncertain whether he will play in the trial against the Crows at Thebarton Oval on Saturday.
Stengle, who played 14 AFL games in two years with Adelaide after managing only two in two years at Richmond, had contemplated switching to the VFL before opting to stay in SA.
He still has AFL ambitions and is eyeing a return to the big league via the mid-season draft in May.
Stengle’s signing is significant for the Eagles as he will fill the small forward vacancy left by last year’s joint Ken Farmer Medallist James Rowe, who was drafted by the Crows and will make his AFL debut against Geelong at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Luke Powell said of more importance was the Eagles’ desire to “look after one of our own’’.
“We pride ourselves on being a family club and Tyson is one of our ex-juniors so we need to wrap our arms around him regardless of the mistakes he’s made,’’ he said.
“He has ambitions of getting back in the AFL and we’d love nothing more than for him to do that but our main focus is on helping to set him on the right path for the next phase of his life.’’

Disappointing last Q but trialling new things.

Re: Eagles v Adelaide
I watched the first half of the Seconds and our boys were far superior despite scoreboard showing Eagles 7 goals to PAOC approx 4. PAOC older and physically stronger, Eagles more skilful and fitter.

Todays win over the Crows wasn't about star players, it was all about a tremendous team effort. Our style of play was exhilarating and we were tough as nails. Our tackling and chasing were first class, we will be an exciting team to watch.

The ball movement in the first 3 quarters was slick, they really had no answer to it.
Vonnie and Dan Menzel looked dangerous up forward.
Expect that Dan's set shot goalkicking style will be a talking point amongst the fans...but it worked quite well today.

Re: Eagles v Adelaide
Matty Goldsworthy and Mitchell Mead were clobbered early in the game and did not reappear. Hoile and Jungfer were taken from the reserves and used as interchange. I think Goldy and Mead will be OK for the first game, they were just hit hard. Hoile played a fair bit of the game. Jungfer played during the last quarter and again reappeared in the reserves match where he played an extremely good game.
For the opening match it appears that J. Hayes, von Bertouch and Clay Cameron will be the three tall forwards. Dan Menzel was used in different positions up forward, played a bit of FF. Down back Thommo, Giuffreda and Pierce Seymour appear to be favourites for the taller positions, with Rory Lehmann pushing for a spot but might have to come through the reserves.
Wings at this stage look to be Kobe Mutch and Kai Pudney although Kai needs to improve his tackling.
Seb Kerrish was a surprise yesterday, looked good and has excellent delivery with his left foot, might be a starter. Zane Williams did some very clever work up forward and kicked two goals. Mitch Hardie is getting better and better and probably makes the first match but will come under hot pressure from Stengle when he returns.
In the reserves Cooper Sharman played his first game after having a long stint on the sidelines with an ankle injury, he moved well and took several good marks playing a roaming roll up forward. Stephen Mills got a lot of touches playing ruck, I don't think he is a league ruckman at this stage but could be a useful versatile big man. Overall a very encouraging showing, but the opposition was not very good.

It was a mixed bag watching D. Menzel's set shots for goal. A natural right footer, his left foot 40 metre banana from the boundary was sensational. The Menzel brothers will provide very mixed highlights and lowlights this season.
