Eagles emails 2019
Four of our teams ventured out to X Convenience Oval over the weekend with the Under 16's recording a come from behind Round 1 win kicking the last 8 goals of the match to turn a 33 points deficit into a 20 point win. Will Neumann, Jase Burgoyne & Dylan Branford all performed well in the midfield.
The League, Reserves and Under 18's all played trial games in their preparations for Round 1, with all players getting through unscathed. This Friday night our League and Reserves have their second trial against Norwood at Coopers Stadium, whilst it is Round 4 in the SANFLW, with the girls taking on Norwood at Elizabeth. The Under 18's and Under 16's take on Norwood also at Coopers Stadium on Sunday.
Under 16’s Round 1 Match Report
Eagles 12.11 (83) def Central 9.9 (63)
Best Player: Neumann, Burgoyne, Calvert, Watson, Branford, Pearce
Goal Scorers: Watson 2, Pearce 2, Burrows 2, Calvert 2, Nicholls, Williams, Blair, Branford
After trials against Sturt and West Adelaide the lads were looking forward to their Round One clash against Central District on the Thursday evening prior to the long weekend.
Centrals got off to a fast start and lead by 13 points at Quarter time however our second quarter was much better and we were able to close the gap to a deficit of 7 points at Half Time.
Our second Halves across our Trials had been a strength therefore we were looking to finish strongly again. But Centrals again came out after the break and kicked the first 4 goals, which was not ideal as half way thru the third quarter Centrals lead by 30 points.
To our guys credit we responded in the later half on the third and kicked the last three goals of the term to trail by 14 points. The game was up for grabs and the lads could sense there was an opportunity to go on with it.
We saved the best to last and won just about all areas of the ground both on the inside as well as using the ball well on the outside, with 16 inside 50 to Centrals 3 in the last Term we were able to kick 5 goals 6 to Centrals 2 points.
With 8 individual goal kickers Brayden Calvett, Will Pearce & Jay Watson kicking 2 each along with Will Neumann, Jase Burgoyne & Dylan Branford working hard in the midfield and Brady Griffiths & Lachlan Hendry doing a stellar job in defence, particularly early, we were able to open up the season with a positive result in an overall good Team performance.
We look forward to venturing out to Coopers Stadium this Sunday to take on the Redlegs.

Re: Eagles emails 2019
A slow start proved costly as undefeated Norwood jumped out of the gates to put the Eagles on the back foot early in the women's Round 4 clash. After quarter time the team worked well to restrict Norwood's scoring. Norwood ran out winners by 28 points.
A tight game was encountered by the Under 16's in their match against Norwood. This round saw five new players for the Eagles as a tough contest was showcased by both teams. As the lead changed hands during a hectic last term, the teams couldn't be separated at the final siren. Our League, Reserves and Under 18 teams played trial games as all teams continue to build towards the beginning of the season.

Re: Eagles emails 2019
The Board and Management of Woodville West Torrens Football Club wish to advise our members and supporters that we, along with other Foundation SANFL Clubs, wish to retain our players should they be selected by the Adelaide or Port Adelaide Football Clubs in the AFL mid-season rookie draft for the remainder of the season in which they are drafted. This draft, along with the pre-season supplementary list draft, was recently introduced by the AFL much to the disappointment of SANFL Clubs. Woodville West Torrens Football Club accepts that any player taken by Adelaide or Port Adelaide would be required to train with the AFL side, however we strongly believe the player is to be released to play for their SANFL Club if not selected for senior AFL duty. This is to include minor round and finals games. This is the model that the West Coast Eagles have agreed to with the WAFL. The SANFL, at the request of the Clubs, has approached both Adelaide and Port Adelaide regarding this request and we await their response. |

Re: Eagles emails 2019
After a nail biting draw against Norwood in the Under 16's last round, 3 new players got their opportunity to represent the Eagles against South Adelaide. It was a tough and tight contest for the second week in a row, with the lead changing hands on numerous occasions. This time the Eagles won, with a kick after the final siren, to win by 3 points.
With the trial games for the League, Reserves and under 18's completed, all players have been given a chance to stake their claims for Round 1. Our attention turns to this weekend when we take on North Adelaide at Maughan Thiem KIA Oval. After a long and tough pre season the players are ready for action!!
In the SANFLW, after a strong our women's team couldn't match it with second placed South Adelaide, who ran out winners by 54 points. The team will look for a strong showing this Sunday when they play their first match at home, as they chase their first victory for the season.

Re: Eagles emails 2019
Dear Michael,
The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is excited to announce that Tess Baxter has re-signed as coach of the SANFLW team for 2020.
Tess said, “I am really looking forward to coaching the team again next year. For a lot of the girls it was their first season of football or as a part of an elite program. The growth shown from within the group from the start of preseason until the end of the season was huge and will provide a great platform for the 2020 season.”
On Tess’s reappointment, Club Chief Executive Officer Luke Powell said, “We are glad to have Tess continue as coach of our SANFLW side next season. In the first 12 months Tess has developed strong relationships with all key stakeholders within the Club, most importantly her players, and we know she will continue to push the group forward.”
With the appointment of Tess finalised, the Club will now spend the next few months appointing people to the remainder of the roles within the women’s program
