Re: Eagles V Centrals Anzac Day Elizabeth oval
As always, we rove to losing rucks - last week, our little guys did well around the packs ? whether we can do the same again this week although hopefully, some windy, rough weather may help diminish their ruck height advantage.
Does anyone know whether the Eagles are trying to get Tim Sumner out to play this season. Such a waste of talent to be playing Amateur footy. At 188cm, good overhead mark, quick and elusive, would add another dimension (yes, 'X factor") to our forward line. Pace of McGregor AND Sumner would make it difficult to match. But allegedly reported that he said that he had lost his passion for AFL footy. Anyone have any news?

Was an article on Adelaide Now (I think) that Tim did meet with Godsy but was wanting to settle back into Adelaide first before comitting. Read a story on Facebook a couple of days ago from a country paper that he was on the verge of signing with Imperials.
Both Tim and Byron were at the club after the game last weekend.

Another solid performance, won 3 qtrs and drew the last, pity we couldn't kick away in the last but after 11 years a 40 point win out at Elizabeth is ok by me.
Goldy, Bomber and Lachie were our best 3 IMO, another good performance by Sam Martyn also.

yeah what a game . what a way to break a hoodoo
Sitting amongst the Eagle faithful they were impressed with Bomber.
Gotta say wundke battled on one leg or foot and had his opponent moved last quarter .
Great win boys

Just looking through country results in the paper, Tim kicked 2 goals yesterday for Imperials.

Re: Eagles V Centrals Anzac Day Elizabeth oval
Only disappointment was that we were 52 points up during the last quarter; the biggest winning margin against Central at Elizabeth is 43 points (Rd 21 1994) and fell three short! 3rd highest score there, and the 108 points was the highest since the aforementioned match (16.15) Funnily enough Central scored 10.8 in that match too, and were also on 4.3 at half time.

Re: Eagles V Centrals Anzac Day Elizabeth oval
Thanks Columbo re info on Tim Sumner. Considering Eagles plucked him out of Amateur League DIV 5 to play League footy 3 years ago when he was only 18, don't read anything into the results if his performances with Imperials aren't much this year - can step up many gears when he wants. And that's exactly the job the Eagles have to hope for - that he's 100% committed if he returns. But he looked very, very sharp in his debut games for GWS (or was it Gold Coast).
Re good win over Centrals:
Hasn't Goldsworthy's move to the backlines been a revelation this year - a real strength especially now that his good reading of the play at HB makes up for a little lack of pace that he needed for a consistent short HF flanker.
Last week Schwarz stepped up. This week Whittlesea in the forward line presented very well, took some nice grabs and is confident now that he can play at this level.
Pressure on the League players coming from the Seconds - considering von Bertouch was in the best 2 League full backs last season, a fall from grace to see him in the 2s, along with Templeton who looked good in the preseason trials. Also Allmond. Like the look of young CHF Jack Firns, and Lodge (ala a poor man's Paul Bullus).
Magpie Jarrad Redden, 205cm, played well against Norwood last Friday and will be a massive hurdle next week against us.

Re: Eagles V Centrals Anzac Day Elizabeth oval
Forget about Tim Sumner, as mentioned he is playing country footy. There are absolutely no plans to attract him to our club either short or long term.
Have liked the performances last two weeks and agree with most of the comments made. I believe Angas Poole has improved a fair bit, he just has to keep it going and Schwarz has also improved but lets see how they go against a tougher opponent this week.

Where's Dobber...? As an Eagles "supporter" does he only pop up here to throw abuse after a loss?
Interesting.

Have watched the last 3 reserves games quite closely also been quite impressed with Firns, been pretty impressed with Rhys Woods too.

Re: Eagles V Centrals Anzac Day Elizabeth oval
Yeah,Columbo,
Good to hear of another Eagles football tragic who gets there early at the start of the Seconds at Centrals of all places!
Yes, also agree re Rhys Woods, had some nice touches against Centrals. Also forgot to mention consistent Alby Dunstan
Overall, Eagles appear to have a Seconds backup for most League positions other than ruckmen - having said that, good to have young Mullins there as a project player. ripe for 2017.

Re: Eagles V Centrals Anzac Day Elizabeth oval
Mullins has done well the last couple of weeks took a pretty heavy hit on the shoulder against Norwood early on in the game, I was quite surprised to see him front up again after the short week but thought he went ok even after copping another knock on the shoulder.
