What a game couldn't believe my eyes

Best 4 qtr performance for a long time.
2nd year in a row we have held them goalless in a half.

Top performance by Eagles. Fast ball movement and much improved leg speed on last year. The defensive pressure of our small forwards (McGregor, Poole, Petrenko) was exceptional.
Good coaching by Godden getting Wundke to draw Georgiou away from the goal-front and leaving the too quick McGregor one out on Bode. But also the little guys in the midfield led by Boyd were very good. Considering we are badly undersized and outgunned in the ruck, we did well around the ball-ups. Desperate for Thurlow's debut despite undersized Bornholm doing a Herculean negating job.

For the "mud-slinger" supporters, Schwarz got something like 26 disposals and 16 tackles and Poole was one of our best.

Fair to say, Eagles played great football to a perfect plan in windy conditions. Next week, in fine conditions, a different game with our talls Ainger and Wundke needing to exert some influence. Von Bertouch appears to be spending long stints on the bench and ? would be worth short bursts up forward where he began as a forward and can grab a few.

One game doesn't make a season, but that was mighty impressive - and everything Godden has talked about in the off season and after last week's loss was there for all to see.

And there's still Thurlow and Lewy to throw in the mix.

I'm gonna sit and wait for the views and thoughts of Dobber...

Schwarz and Martyn were excellent today, Schwarz had 26 touches 6k/15hb 8 clearancs and 15 tackles, Martyn 30 8k/22hb.
Probably Boydy's best game with us with 32 touches.
Thommo great on Newton who's only 2 kicks all day were from no more than 5m out from goal both times and he missed both.
The pressure - actual and perceived on Norwood today was as good as it gets.
