It's Goldy's 100th game for the Eagles on Sunday.
Just another reason to get down to Noarlunga to support our boys.

That thread is almost as humorous as the folks in the grandstand at Unley! Doubt the 3 blokes they are directing their venom at will be too worried, and it's not like Boydy hasn't been back before, might make them play better.

I'm not sure South are too fussed about Boyd, but certainly seem to have some dislike for Ainger in particular. He has been very poor in his games v South so far, so hopefully for our sake this turns around.

Big job for Von Bertouch on Eddy, who has sparked interest amongst AFL scouts. Stop Eddy and negate Brooksby (Bornholm) and we're more than half-way home.
Interesting Godden was saying 40% of the players haven't reached their standard of last year. Lewis needs a big game, he looks fitter than last year but can't find the ball enough. Until Sunday, Goldie was below par but returned to good form.
Two performers at different ends of their careers who have lifted upon last year are our aging Captain Luke Powell (who must have rated in the best 3 on the ground in 3 out of the first 4 games this year) and young Poole. Thought Dunstan showed good signs last week and, while Grocke is out, we need him as a running tall up forward instead of our otherwise 2 "talls" - 4 very "shorts" forward line
Heinjus is taking a mighty long time to get over his hamstring - hasn't played now for 7 weeks. Important to have him as backup to Bornholm.

I know we're light on options in defence, but I'd highly suggest Jarrad doesn't play fullback.

Re: Rnd 5 4/05/2014 Sth Adel V Eagles Hickinbotham Oval 2.10pm
Agree. Whereas Jarrad is a good running wingman/HB, he can't handle the body pressure expected as a key/tall defender (not tall anyway). Duldig exposed him last week. I expect Gotch will rest Brooksby down forward who should be able to kick 3-4 goals against our short defence, given von Bertouch will be on Eddy. Possibly Fitzgerald is planned to spend a bit of time in the last line of defence but not sure whether he's got the "defensive smarts"at this stage. Killian has been stagnating at fullback for 2-3 years now in the Seconds, has a mature body and always shows solid form - if his time to be chosen is not now, when will it be especially if Culley and Templeton return in 5-6 weeks?
Good if Sumner does start on the wing. Gives away too many frees in the last line of defence. His role of taking the kick-ins can be taken by Raymond. Further up the field, Sumner can create havoc with his pace, kicking ability. (Down back, like Jarrad, he gets caught out if body-on-body in marking duel).
Was very confident of winning this one until we again left out a key defender - now I just hope... and hope that it rains and blows.

An interesting fact is that this was the first time since Round 4 2007 we had an unchanged 21. No doubt having no AFL listed players in the team helped this stat a lot. In fact, the two teams last year who had the most AFL listed players recruited from/allocated to have used the least amount of players this year:
Sturt: 23
Eagles: 25
Central: 27
North: 29
Port: 29
South: 29
West: 30
Norwood: 31
Adelaide: 32
Glenelg: 34
