Re: Eagles V South Sunday May fifth
any truth in the rumor that Chris Davies provided a house for Andrew Ainger and Carey to live as part of the recruitment deal? If so, hoping it is all above board at the league, or both he and us might have egg on our face ala Norwood!

Re: Eagles V South Sunday May fifth
Difficult to understand the negativity that some of the Eagle supporters have expressed on some websites about Andrew Ainger.
Ainger has been a huge asset - not many CHFs over the past 5 years have the goal kicking average that this bloke has at South last year and again at the Eagles over their first 4 games. He could not have done more and yet comments like "reserve their judgement" etc continues. Thank x?$@, we got him especially with Grocke missing. Yes, he cost a bit but has been worth it.
Also, the same can be said for criticisms of Kane Mitchell. Walks into an entirely new bunch of guys hasn't met, let alone trained with, and sure, his form has been a little quiet but geez, I bet those same supporters would be squealing if he asked to go to Port Magpies. He'll pick up. Even his run and spread from the stoppages is a good influence on some of our playerswho tend not to be good on this.
Does Luke Thompson qualify for Finals with his 5th game this week? Let's hope Renouf keeps up his good form with Port Power for us to keep Jarad Redden. Gosh, that Kirk is a big boy too - it would be great if he can play in the latter half of the year.
Someone started a rumour pre-season that Stephen Tiller was going to make a comeback in the second half of the season - any truth in that or just a tease.

Re: Eagles V South Sunday May fifth
Totally agree with you 'Premiers' re Ainger & Mitchell.
Every time Andrew kicks a goal I look to the heavens & say "Thank you........"
Great asset to the forward line.
I wonder what the Kane Mitchell critics are saying now that the Power has upgraded him from the rookie list again.

Re: Eagles V South Sunday May fifth
Funnily enough he finds himself at the top of the goalkicking list...but since Chambers there really hasn't been big tallies at the top of the charts.
The only thing stopping it from being a complete match was the goalkicking (it should have been 28.14, not 23.19) and a bit of foot off pedal in the last.
I fear how many of Salter, Redden and Petrenko will not be there in two weeks time. I give Rowntree the best player - clearance king out of the centre today, but Salter and Redden in the forward lines and Petrenko some pace; without two of them, we will lose for sure.

Agree about Redden and maybe Joyce could he go to the crows as a small forward ?
I gave Goldy BOG .And thought cully was second mainly because he kept Wundke to zero !!

Re: Eagles V South Sunday May fifth
In terms of solid performers I dont understand why the Crows havent given Thommo another go - was excellent on Eddy and has been very steady all year. I want him with us but think he should be given the opportunity by the Crows.

Totally agree, although I love having Thommo & his family at the club with us he definitely deserves another opportunity at the Crows.Columbo wrote:Col D wrote:In terms of solid performers I dont understand why the Crows havent given Thommo another go - was excellent on Eddy and has been very steady all year. Re: Eagles V South Sunday May fifth
Surprised that Paul Stewart was dropped from the Power and would expect him to be back in the Power next week. Otherwise a nice problem of where do you fit him in if Grocke returns next week - with Grocke, Salter and Ainger , having a 3rd tall although he's pretty quick and can handle a flank, we might be losing out on going to quick and losing a crumber. ? do you play him on the wing but Jarrad, Petrenko and Hall have been going well there.
With Salter and Paul Stewart(possibly). pretty hard for Fitzgerald, Staple and Ellis-Yolman to get a look-in.
Biggest dilemma is do you drop an in-form player and bring Borholm for the short stints that Parry needs a rest. Problem being that we haven't got someone like Grieger who could pinch- hit in the ruck like last year - Grocke too short and Ainger too weak. Desperately need Kirk fit to fill that role. Also, Heinjus featuring in the Reserves BP each week must be closing the gap between him and Bornholm.
