Sad What's going on with Jarred Allmond?
Has he left the club, if true why ?
What a waste if he has.

Can someone who saw the Eagles Trial on Fri 24th Feb, give a run-down on the personel and form? For example:

1. Have we got any tall forwards besides Gocke and Staple - did Ryan Fitzgerald, Von Bertouch or Jacquier show anything? What about this mystery forward Charlie Rea?
2. How did Eddy, Shirley and Sumner go?
3. Has Hoban's progress continued?

and more
Starved of information.
With the extra money saved from losing Tiller and Allmond, wonder if there's any chance of picking up another recruit so late.

I'll put my kneck out here Premiers so If I'm wrong its jut from my point of view.
Firstly Shirley,Day,Fairclough didnt play .
Hoban looks to have progressed some .BUT youngster Huppatz impressed me as well .He kicked the "BLUE" Eagles first goal .But like so many others couldnt kick that straight .
This year Grockes didnt have Tiller shutting him down so he kicked a few before having a rest .Summerton presented well as did McDONOUGH who was also used in the midfiled rotation.
From a couple of us Kris Kane was BOG!!
Other recruits from outside the eagles Lindsey from Port ,Longbottom from the bays both showed something.Eddy apart from dropping an easy mark in front of my position did show something as well.Sorry didnt see to much of Rae think he started up forward and then went down back . Ingliss new to the club from an amature club did a few things .Luke Jarrad ,Luke Powell (wearing 26),Mark Mackenzie(he looked bigger in blue),Scott Lewis and Cica in 12 playing up forward all did things during the game. Flash was left alone seemed to get the ball and run with ease. Before I forget the crows boys coming back Ellis Yoeman looked the best .My apologies if I missed anyone out.

While it was just an internal trial Eagles were rusty at some things .BUT both Gold and Blue teams liked to run and looked very good .And if we have Summner , Lindsey and to lesser extent Ellisyoeman (not to mention Shirley)on the park at the same time .Theres some pace in those guys .

But I cant see the club recruiting anyone at this late stage.

yes lets talk about the conditions unlike most of the wednesday night traing sessions there was no breeze . Poor guys out in that but some did impress greatly and others will get better as the year goes on IMHO .
Wasn't trying to pick on anyone I mentioned above .

Not at all Micky... i thought your summary was great and on the mark - just thought it was worth mentioning the heat that would have contributed to the rustiness.

I wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes out there!

Thanks for the trial run-down.

So it sounds like we're well stocked for on-ballers but still short on big key forwards (Grocke aside, and Staple more a free runner). May be relying on Nick Salter being available. We don't seem to have the 194-195cm key position playerscoming through that other clubs have/or have recruited.

I think you'll find that there is no extra money with Tiller and Allmond going as the Club knew they were going and factored them out for salary cap purposes.

How big is Charlie Rae? Is he good enough to fill the backpocket on the talls when Luke Thompson/Salter are in the AFL and unavailable. Is Grocke's brother still out there? There's a spot in the backpocket on the talls up for grabs (assuming Guifreda takes the smalls)

Likewise, the third tall in the Forward Pocket also up for grabs. Unless they keep the resting ruckmen Parry or Redden up there. Hope we don't go too small even though it's good to see we've recruited some pace for a change.
Hoping Von Bertouch or Ryan Fitzgerald can lift a few notches and press their claims.
Who would be slower over 20 metres - Cicca or Shirls?

I think Culley or Killan could take 3rd tall, thou I reckon we will see a fair bit of Thompson.
I would play Salter at FF, I think he could kick 70+ if he played all year with us.
I'm with you, would love to see R.Fitzgerald or Von Bertouch cement a fwd spot. I thought Rae was a fwd, he's another who could have a crack at FF.

I reckon Cicca would be slower....just!
