Re: Rd 2 Eagles v North @ Woodville Sat 13 April 2:30 PM
Does anybody know how bad or maybe how good Riley Knight's ankle injury is?
Zero from the Club or SANFL about it and there has been no injury list updates from either party this week which is a bit disappointing.

Yes true. I'd go out to training say tomorrow night if the boys are training if I'm not invited to the soccer with my family but wouldn't know what time they train as when Jimmy Toumpas was at the Eagles he told someone and i to come out to pre-season training to watch them.Goddsy11 wrote:The Barton wrote:Thankyou Eagleds35, you've made my night.

Thank you, I missed the injuries thread all together amongst the masses of comments this week and thought it unusual that Wimpey hadn’t updated us.
Caught up with the “disectomy” post as well, sounds painful. Hopefully it’s nothing like an “addadicktome” operation.

I seriously hope that Tilbrook has got a reserves game this week if he made the cut as he's a lovely country lad. I haven't seen him since the game when under 18s got knocked out of the finals and if he's playing reserves this week i can't wait to see and icatch up with him. Plus we both are from YP

How good was that? Maybe the best effort by the team in the last 15 years? In years gone by when we’ve won by 6 goals plus we tended to only played dominant halves of footy and then take the foot off the accelerator. This was a true four quarter effort with no slacking off. The spread of goal kickers was impressive.
Here are my notes:
- Ferocious tackling on forward line by Menzel and Weckert in the first half.
- Run and dash off backline – Beecken and Morris both brilliant
- Firns – best game in a season and a half. Settle this bloke in this position. Give him a chance to make this his own. He’s competing against Bruce I’d imagine.
- Morris – his immediate thought when he gets the ball is to attack, attack. Love it.
- Our mosquito fleet in the forward line – Buck, Nicholls causes havoc when the ball hits the ground with their low centre of gravity and tight turning circles.
- Neumann & Herbert – might need a few games in the reserves to get some form. Probably our quietest (along with Goldy).
- Menzel with long hair looks like Pudney. Barkla with short hair looks like Pudney
- Defence – massively better effort this match. Stuck tight to their players after the cobwebs against West.

How good was today. Loved it and the funniest thing is that i scared the new recruit in #28 off but he was laughing at it as he loved it. Both McKay and McGrath are showing me and someone else i was with how much they care.

No injuries out of today. League players with Ice on them after the game. I noticed Darcy Hudson was the last one by a minute or so to come on the oval after half time in the reserves as i told him I'd close the gate for him after someone closed it so he thanked me and also noticed that Archie Charles was in the rooms for a few minutes or so as i opened the gate up a little bit for him to run through it and told him i was going to close the gate for him that's when he thanked me for doing it.

"Maybe the best effort by the team in the last 15 years?"
Beg to disagree, but 2nd quarter in GF with 9 goals takes some beating.

It shows u how much commitment G. Hansen has he came back to watch the reserves game from under 18s though he was a bit tired that's why he never went upstairs after the game.

Re: Rd 2 Eagles v North @ Woodville Sat 13 April 2:30 PM
Good to have added 2 new players to our list who are elite field kicks - Josh Morris and Luke McKay. Both players can execute the 45 metre precision pass emerging from traffic. Morris's stats may have been inferior to Beecken's but Morris was equally outstanding - let's hope we keep Josh from the midseason draft.
Re Jack Boyd (played in Seconds last night), we'll need to be patient; having missed preseason training, he may need 6-8 weeks to get his fitness back.

Selection may be interesting with Riley Knight to come back. Hard to find a passenger yesterday. Our midfield was totally dominant.
Anyone know what was up at the cricket club. Was closed yesterday?

I would like to mention the unheralded efforts the two small forwards put in each match.
Zak Buck and Sam Nicholls although not flashy or high profile provide a lot of grunt and pressure in each game they play. Their play adds considerably to our quite varied attack. Nicholls and Buck have now played 16 games together.
It's going to be hard for Will Pearce and Max Beattie to force their way back in to the team.
Max Beattie reckons he is only 5-6 weeks away from playing again. He said his recovery is going a lot better than anticipated. Will Pearce said he will resume against South on the 11th of May.
Really like the way our backs are playing, they have many and various skills. I think they could develop in to a powerful unit. Josh Morris has wonderful skills and sets up a lot of plays, Beecken adds dash, Litster controls the air, Roller and Thompson add plenty of experience and Cameron Fleeton will contribute after an initial settling period.
